|
hey, someone out there, i need to get somewhere in the next two hours, and that means looking at a map, and that map is only available to me in powerpoint format for some fucking hideous reason.
is there anyone who can help me either open this map myself (using some kind of converter, perhaps) or who can open it himself and make me a jpg of the map?
quick!! please!! |

Yeah, I think I can do that from here, Tim. A bmp, at least.
Send the file to sns1@alfred.edu, or just link it for me. I'll be quick. |

Yes!
I have sent it away. That was fast as all hell.
Now I need to shave.
So . . . I guess this topic is kind of dead, then.
Or maybe not:
. . . who the hell makes a map a Powerpoint file?
Also, in the email to which the map is attached, the phone number ("in case you have any question") is incomplete by one digit. Did they want me to email them back (last Thursday, when I should have seen the message, if I would have had regular internet access) and say, "Hey, Powerpoint? I don't have that. And the phone number is missing a digit." I think maybe they did.
They would have every reason to.
It was a test for me, and these people have a reason to test me, I guess. |

| Well, since that's already taken care of anyway... I believe OpenOffice supports Powerpoint files, for future reference. |

| Uh, PowerPoint doesn't seem to like the file. It may be corrupt, but the preview shows up okay. I don't know. Someone else volunteer. I'm looking for a conversion fix or something. |

I can try it... I have Office 2000, though I doubt the result will be any different. Also, if it's huge, I'm on 56k...

Well, shit.
This reminds me of the time me and Persona got that postcard from Sony with that complicated, impossible address on it.
That address happened to be Dodger Stadium.
Why not just say "Dodger Stadium"?
I mean, I . . . know this building, already. They could have just given me the address in an email. I think they ARE purposely being difficult. |
