Hey Psiga!
Remember we were talking about doing this?
Well, I've been messing with Google Chat for a bit, and I'm pretty sure I can set my computer to record from the mic, make it so the speakers won't pick up the mic feed, and then have you on Google chat and me yammering into the microphone and actually have it work out properly.
Again, I'm not sure how WELL it would work, or if the conversations would be any good, but hey, if it sucks we can always not release it. If it's any good, we could do a bunch of them and have all the IC luminaries make guest appearances and soforth. True, the whole thing would be incredibly self-serving and pointless to anyone but hardcore forum-ites, but what here isn't? We'd just be totally taking it to the next level, dude. |

I actually don't remember us talking about a radio show, so much as you repeatedly asking if I was recording our conversation over the phone. (Phone, not google chat. I don't even have a mic.)
Under different circumstances, I'd say yeah, let's try it out. But! Solly, not right now. Although I do think that it'd be pretty fun, and would be happy to put it on my TO DO IN THE FUTURE list. |

It would be cool to have voices attached to the people on here, it certainly changes perception a bit. The only voice I know is no longer amongst us and it wasn't what I expected.
Then again, what to expect from voices?
I have a pretty good idea of Rya's, I imagine. Other than that, I'm in the dark. |

I'd be down for doing this once I bring my microphone up here.
I doubt we'd have interesting conversations though, the only exchange I really remember between us at E3 was when we arguing whether Oblivion of 3Feel was game of the show.
Actually, hell, that is pretty good material right there. |

We should do an IC radio show.
IC actually started up shortly after work was done on a radio show. |

Alright, anyone interested in doing the IC radio show, e-mail me (my IC name @ gmail.com) as I am going to, in all seriousness, figure out how to do this. The guys at one of the sites I write for do more or less the exact same thing, so I'm just going to ask what their setup is and use that. Seems to work fine for them, should work fine for us.
Thread moved BACK to general chat. |

That's excellent news.
Sorry to backtrack to your original post, but when you say Google Chat to record the show, do you mean Google Talk or is there some other "Google Chat"? |

| yo, deusjester, i've ran one of these. You need a relay server, there's no way your upload's gonna handle more than 4 simulataneous listeners at once. Also, relay servers cost $$$. We can do a shoutcast station. I have time to program/format for a couple shows a week, as well. but that costs moneys. |

| I kinda get the impression that he just wanted to have a conversation, record it, and then torrent it. More podcasty than live streaming. |

No more than 4 people at once anyway, and it turns out there's a good number of programs that can be used EXPLICITLY for this purpose, which is neat.
More details as they emerge. We will be doing this, rest assured. |

I personally would want a talk show.
And live broadcast over podcast.
But that's me.
And if I wasn't busy for the last 3 years, I would have run one already. I've been wanting an insert credit talk radio show for a long time. |

It's an interesting idea! But it's also quite a bit of effort, and talk shows are really a pretty ungood method of discussion compared to forums and what have you. I guess the worth of such a thing would really depend on what people have to say, and I question whether you'd be able to find enough participants with enough useful things to say on a given subject or set of subjects to make it worthwhile.
Normally I'd raise the bandwidth objection thing at this point, but if you get a free TS server then there's really no harm in trying such a thing. Organizing it might be tough, and my personal hopes wouldn't be too high, but hey, free. |

Live broadcast with talkback stuff is naff.
Stick wtih regular hosts/panel discussion of topics/general chat shit/occasional guests thing, possibly a song or two (!?!) some breakers, recorded and released as a torrent. Much neater! |

Alright. I'm stickying this for now, while I wait for a reply from the deeko.com folk.
Note that, initially, it'll probably just be two of us yammering at each other with little-to-no format to it. We can go from there, but let's see if we can get that far. Once we've actually got a base to work from, we can do the more ambitious stuff. |

I linked the Very Orange Konami thread as archived by google in the most recent FKW thread. There is a link to it on that archive. |

I sadly must rain down the hammer of fuck you on this thread, because if you guys do an "IC Radio Show" it is not the real IC Radio Show, because me and Drew Cosner have already recorded like six HOURS of that.
. . .
I suppose most of the content is now, uh, not relevent anymore. Though we were planning to do more starting next month.
I'm afraid if you two boys do a radio show, you're going to have to call it something else!! |

Or we could just, uh, merge the two.
Unless that would like, dilute the purity of your original vision or something.
Maybe we'll start DPS Radio instead, and talking points will be about how much IC radio used to be awesome but now it's just not the same. |

No offense, though yeah, it kind of would!!
It's kind of like all the people emailing me asking if they and their friends can do the next FFDog. Yeah, of course you can!! Just don't call it "FFDog"!! I understand full well that the things I do with the internet are things anyone else can do, maybe even better! I just . . . like having exclusive rights to certain titles.
. . . Though I guess Vincent here is the one who owns the "rights" to the "IC Radio Show" name, so -- yeah. I guess it's his decision!!
ISN'T IT VINCENT?!
Seriously, we are . . . upgrading the website soon. And I thought the ultimate commemoration for this miraculous event would be to have our first "IC Radio" "podcast" ready by then. Live broadcasts would happen later. When I have a computer. I mean, I was seriously just thinking about this last week.
So, again -- yeah.
. . . DJ and Psiga, if you want to do the Large Prime Numbers Radio Show -- hey! How fucking postmodern would that be?! You can do the "official" show of my personal site. I'd link every one of them on IC, you must understand.
Yes!!! |

Yeah -- a set of topics is what we have planned.
Basically, the topics involve looking at my weekly column on Next-Gen.biz and talking about three issues. Length is sixty minutes. The team consists of three.
We were trying to work out a way to get Aderack in there. Once I get a PC, that will be highly possible. |

Well, Tim, here's my thought:
Rather than have everything be one big naming clusterfuck, why not just COMBINE OUR POWERS like some kind of semi-autistic postmodern Voltron and make a new radio show with the following format:
- It's called neither the IC Radio Show nor the LPN Radio Show.
- it's called something much cooler that I haven't thought of yet.
- Suggestions welcome.
- It goes up on LPN, IC, and, hell, DPS. GAF. 1UP. GameFAQs. I don't give a shit. Wherever.
- It has to all be NEW stuff. We're not Nintendo, no whoring out stuff we (by which I mean you) did forever ago. That stuff gets released on it's own time, in the format it was made.
- Ideally, all the IC luminaries have to show up at some point. If this is your first night at IC Podcast thingie, you have to Podcast, etc. I don't want this to be the Tim Rogers/Matt Warner/Patrick Murphy/whoever Podcast starring backup members of the IC forums.
- This is all assuming we actually get this off the damn ground.
People do seem pretty amped about it, though, so I'm going to forge ahead. I've gotten some useful e-mails too, plus a bunch of "this sounds cool" mails that make me think this could actually be pretty fun. The time is ripe, I say! |
