Maybe we don't want to know who he is!
Keep on the good work DJ, you got a very good radio voice and the idea of an IC talk show sounds awesome. |

GENTLEMEN...BEHOLD...THIS THING!
It's just another 20 second speech of me grumbling into the microphone, but I think I've got the hiss more or less eliminated, and I continute to figure out what sounds decent as far as mixing music into the background, fading it in and out when appropriate, dimming it once the talking starts, that kind of thing. Yay! Hopefully we'll actually do something tomorrow.
The only problem I can gather with this one is that the whole thing is way too quiet, but that's really easy to fix. It's weird how much we say "uhhh" without realizing it, isn't it?
Also: More fun with the music selection! I'm gonna burn through all my cool-sounding stuff at this rate. |

I just want to mention that Skype is incredibly amusing. I've had a lot of confusing conversations with people trying to learn English on it.
I'm not entirely sure how many users you can have in a single chat either. My biggest concern with Skype is that it's a little laggy, and it doesn't seem to be based much on your location. I got the same amount of lag speaking to people in Malaysia as I did speaking to a friend living half an hour from me (both of us on broadband too). So... it might not be the greatest choice. Unless they've updated it a little lately and somehow managed to decrease that lag.
I imagine this happens in every VOIP program.
test2.ogg was sounding good. It might have a tiny bit of microphone hiss, or it might be ambience?! I'm not sure about these things, most likely just background noise or something?!?! Regardless it sounded good.
But yes. Lag between people talking might lead to some unusual conversations. |

It's Metriod Metal's rendition of Boss Medley from Super Metriod. I think it is anyway. Do I get points for being right?

Bahh. Not out yet.
Y'know, nobody has tried to make 'radio show' software, to my knowledge. There's probably (practically no) money in that idea! |

heres the thing with music...you add it afterwards...during editing...unless this is live.....which i suggest it shouldn't be you can add lots of shit in post including getting rid of the hiss.
I've been messing with this program called Audio Hijack Pro (mac only) and it seems to work out nicely. You can set it up to record from any appilcation as well as your own mic source. So basically it will alow us to use skype, google talk or both all while recording without echo.
So yah skype, im, or whatever me today....oh and uh sorry for the drunk post last night heh... |

I'd say you need two computers to do this: one for the group chat thing, and one to record the output of that computer into no. 2 to make it into a track without looping and.or other glitches. I'm not sure that those chat programs actually have an option to output the voice of whomever is running it, although a silent 'technician' could host the session and not talk themselves if nothing else does the trick. That should work.
Sounds pretty cool though. |

Is it too late to lend a hand?
I used to have a radio show back in college... I'm a big talk radio fan actually. I've wanted to talk about games for quite some time now, but have shied away from doing a podcast with just myself. But if it was some collaborative effort.. a real show, that would be swell.
My name is Matt as well, so is that going to be a problem? |

Note: Tonight is not going to work, for the simple reason that my mic appears to have died. I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out what was going on. At first I thought it was my computer, but now it appears the mic itself is kaput.
I'm going to radio shack tomorrow. I'm not sure this could have had crappier timing. |

Try plugging your phone into the modem!
I should get around to doing that. It's kind-of a bitch, because of the location of the phone's cords. |

I'm not even sure anymore. Skype and Google Talk should be OSX compatible, yeah? Skype can make calls to regular phone lines if necessary. |

Im good friends with the person who runs my college radio station and Im currentally looking into how im going to fit running a show into my schedule. It wouldn't happen all at once but I could end up with a 2 or maybe 3 hour block of live radio that I can do anything I want to with. The college is UNF and you can live stream it here: http://www.unf.edu/groups/wosp/
So who wants to do a massive conferance call? |

I'd try this, but you'd probably only hear me say, "Muhhh...buh... ...muh." I'm kind-of in shock, as the owners of the property I'm living in are getting ready to sell the thing. We either move (where?), or get a home loan (how?). As far as loans go, I've got a starting business with nothing in the black, and my mother is a schoolteacher earning about $20k. Wonderfully bothersome situation.
So, all kinds of everything are on hold in my life, as I scramble for some ground. |

Yikes. Can you convince your mother to move to a different area? Depending on her experience, she could be getting much more.
extralife, what model mac do you have? Most of the time they're hidden in a small crevice near the monitor. My laptop has one upper-left of the keyboard, most people don't even know it's there. |

Yeah, she does want to move on to another position, but at the exact moment we are in that paycheck-to-paycheck 'treading water' situation that so many American households are into these days. Who knows what'll be happening from here on.
Heh, I had an amusing sense of dread for about an hour before the call came. It seems as though a part of me knew it was coming. |

Already toyed with a similar-though-less-foolish idea.
Incidentally, I went on to an online roulette table in guest mode and put down the max bet on 34 for kicks. It lost. But the current most numerologicaly haunting number in my life came up. Good ol' 23.
That number comes up in my life so often -- too often. And yet not often enough or consistently enough to really...do anything. |

I'm sorry to hear about your situation Psiga. I was in a similar situation not too long ago. The owners of my parents house had all of sudden decided they wanted their (grown) children to live closer to them, so we had to get out in a few weeks. Luckily we knew some people that had a house they were willing to let us have for a decent price.
Isn't there some kind of financial housing aid you guys can get? Not like a loan, but like something to help pay your living costs. |

It's amusing since less than a year ago we had to leave a family-owned condo that my grandmother decided to sell out from under us. The thing is still sitting empty today, at a loss to her and thus a loss to her children's inheritence, because she is a fuckup of a human being. So here we are one state over, and another home we've settled into is about to be sold.
We'll be looking into any sort of aid we can pull together, of course. My mother used to be a Realtor, so she knows the ropes there. No guarantees, either way. That's the main thing: We're not quite broke and homeless, but there's no guarantee that we won't be soon.
It's better than a guarantee that we will be. I'm just growing tired of the lack of stability. Loans and luck; not enough pay for doing the things that we're good at. It's probably a common enough story. |

So I imagine Deus will be posting the test episode here shortly.
So there were some weird recording issues that should be sorted out for the next recording but you may notice some weird skips in conversation, especially near the end. |

This may take a second, just to warn you.
I tried uploading it this afternoon, figured it'd take maybe 5 minutes.
Six HOURS later, no dice. I tried uploading some screenshots, though, and that worked, so guh?
I'll get it to work, though.
I sound drunker in the audio file than I think I was. Oh well. No modesty for me!
Kind of off-topic, but I think this might be my favorite screenshot I've ever taken of any game, ever. |
