Fucking PSP can not, I repeat can not play genesis games.
That is, unless you like your genesis with moderate frameskips and butchered sound. |

Yeah, I was doing alright until level 3 and then the seizure-inducing flashing while trying to see invisible liquids made me call it a night. Was pretty cute up until that point though. I'll have to try it again sometime in a less crappy fashion. |

| Rocket Knight, Hard Corps, and even Bloodlines proves that Konami should have made far more Genesis games than they did. They knew how to make that hardware sing. |

Shapermc looks kinda like Joel from MST3K
Also, I have never played this game despite hearing how great it is. I shall fix this. |

Fuck all that noise guys, what we need to play is some Penguin Adventure.
It's not only the first game Kojima was ever involved with, it's the best game on the MSX other than the two Metal Gears (and it may even be better than Metal Gear 1 as I've never really felt compelled to play through that one, though I'm sure Subsitence will change that).

Yea, mine is a little smaller than when I got it (I think I got it in September?). It was XXL though because I know this stuff shrinks, so now it is an XL and it will still fit as an L, but not as comfy. Also, I just noticed that I was wearing that, I thought I was wearing a different hoody lastnight. |

I don't care what you pick Rud13. I'm going to be trying that odd NES game with the baby. Looks funky.
edit: And sure enough its very funky. Like a mix of Chip 'N Dale and New Zealand Story. My kind of funk. |

Side note: I always felt that Herc's Adventures was the spiritual successor to ZAMN.
Well, it was done by the apparently defunct Big Ape Productions, which was headed up by people who worked on ZAMN and Metal Warriors, so.....! |

This game needs to be a t-shirt. That title screen is priceless. |

I finally gave Rocket Knight Adventures the time it deserved.
My holy shit? Between this and Contra:Hard Corps (which I need a copy of NOW) and Bloodlines (No one write anything about that yet, there is something coming.) I really am agreeing with Shaper when I say, Treasure who?
RKA in particular makes me see the Treasure connection from some of the bosses, to the boss theme being the same as Green's theme. Holy hell that section leading up the one battle in stage 5? Yeah that's fucking hard.
I don't even know why I'm being vague, the game is over 10 years old. I still don't feel like spoiling it.
I will say this GRADIUS REFERENCES ABOUND. |

I fell in love with this game playing it on the Dreamcast using FMSX. I got the Saturn MSX Antiques compilation at a cool $40 just to play this game, and beat it just a week later. Maybe owning a legitimate copy of a game had some moralizing effect.
The only bad thing about the compilation is they only have the Japanese version of the games. Most of the text is still in English in Penguin Adventure, although not in the Gradius / Salamander games, which sucks since I like all those intros. |

Trust me, they're better that way. Of course it makes it kind of impossible to finish Salamander and Gradius III without a FAQ, but still. The English text is forgettable at best. |

So here's what we do.
CHANGE UP: IC GAME CLUB GAME IS NOW CASTLEVANIA:BLOODLINES. GET TO WORK. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Rocket Knight games and Hard Corp are what make everyone think Treasure was some Konami internal team that left en masse. They may as well be Treasure games, and you're lying if you don't think the poeple that did leave weren't at least heavily influenced by a few Konami titles of the day.
Don't you think Nobuya Nakazoto (director of RKA and Hard Corps) was influenced by Treasure, not the other way around? Hard Corps in particular seems like it had to have been made by people who had played Gunstar Heroes.
But yeah, Konami's Genesis games were much better than their SNES games. Though I haven't played the SNES Sparkster yet (do people like it more or less than the Genesis games?). |

Ugh. Bloodlines is like an arcadier Castlevania game.
Which I think is the last thing Castlevania needs to be.
I do like the music though, and there is blood EVERYWHERE.
NEXT! |

I fail to see what the fuss is about in Rocket Knight Adventures. It feels very arbitrary. I got as far as the flying bit with the sea serpent and turned it off.
Bloodlines just made me want to play Castlevania II.
So I did.
That shit is difficult.
I rented the baby game a zillion years ago for a video store that alleged that it was in fact Super Mario Brothers 3. |

| Rocket Knight Adventures has a great sense of adventure about it. At the beginning of the first stage in the background is the 3rd and 4th levels. You are constantly moving forward, you need to save that princess and it's not going to get done by itself. |
