I wouldn't mind starting up one here on the East Coast. Hell, there seems to be quite a few New Yorkers this time around.

I don't know when. The where is an Internet cafe with a Rock-n-Roll name right, I'm not kidding, on the junction of Haight and Ashbury.

Rockin' java. It's about halfway down that last block before Haight ends in trees and shrubs, on the south side. There's a hacked Ms. Pac-Man machine and Arkanoid in there, both in cocktail cabinets. Go way in the back.

And maybe we should network what to bring. Brandon says he might bring Mighty Final Fight next time. I think an Ice Climbers tournament would be awesome.

There are some considerations: what everyone else is bringing, whether it's got two-player (or more!) play, how obscure or unusual it is, how neat it would be to compete on.

I think Anticipation actually would be kind of kickass, played as it's supposed to be played.

Go to this lovely site, for answers(?)!

Another game that might work a little, somehow: Gyromite. In two-player co-op mode, where P2 takes the role of ROB. We could build some kind of weird test around it.

A bunch of the launch-window R&D1 games like Balloon Fight and (fuck) even Urban Champion seem way, way, appropriate, somehow.

Wild Gunman, maybe. GUMSHOE!

Both Ikari Warriors 1 and 2, just because. The second game is so terrible we really need to do something creative with it.

If only we could save stages in Excitebike or Lode Runner, it would be fun to bring them in and force other people to play them. Or Wrecking Crew.

Jackal is good. River City Ransom, maybe. Might be too long-form. Skykid!

The Lode Runner construction kit is actually pretty excellent. I had great fun, years ago, devising the most irritating/clever levels I could dream up, to force upon whomever I had around. I'd "save" them by sketching the layout on a sheet of notepaper.

Hey, that's not a bad plan. We could prepare with graph paper, then enter our shit and put everyone else through it.

Not that I'm opposed to the idea of an apple cruller. It just sounds unlikely.

Actually, I'm sleeping with myself! I mean, I'm working in a law office.

And Aderack -- last time I went to Korea (March) they still had chocolate crullers in Dunkin' Donuts. If the American Dunkin' Donuts ditched them after then, then there's a chance the Korean ones did too.

Ahh, that was a damn good cruller.

They also have jelly donuts, which are my favorite. Just because they're so ridiculous.

scratchmonkey: well, I did post about it on the front page on sunday morning. But more notice than that would've been good, to be sure. Next time there will be!

An NES club in NY would be a pretty good idea. To be honest, I'm surprised there isn't something like this already (that's been widely publicized, at least).

No, I hear they did it sometime last year; 'round about the time I moved over here, actually. Which means! Maybe the order didn't translate?

Perhaps crullers live on in one dark, dirty, and kimchee-scented corner of the globe?!

A NY IC meet-up was proposed a while's back, then the date was pushed, and pushed, and pushed. I was one of the folks who was sorta helping out with the planning, so when it did happen all of a sudden and while I was in town, I was both annoyed a little hurt.

But let's do this again. I'm super busy, but with enough of a head's up, I'd love to help organize something. We just have to figure out if its at a bar or at a place where he can hook up a system and have a proper "club" atmosphere.

As much as I hate the idea of going to Barcade in Willamsburg, a bar with old arcade machines, it does seem like a perfect place to meet. Any thoughts?

Dhex, how about you?

I can get Krispy Kream crullers at any Shop n Save or Wal-mart I go into even in a backwoods WV town like Mannington or Grafton. Granted, those aren't the best, but at least they're chocolate crullers. Matter of fact, I have two left hidden in the closet right now. I think I'll go eat...
