|
Make up a story for at least one of the two. if no story exists for either.
Name:
I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics once while my brother was watching a documentary on pirates. Spontaneously he began to yell pirate names at me; famous one like Blackbeard and Captain Hook/Cook, etc. I of course responded with a few, like Orangebeard and William Kid; William Kid, however, was a boring name, so we started to make up our own.
He eventually got around to saying Lackbeard in response to the obvious, and I responded with Headlack and Lackwrist; to this he shouted "Lacknose", pointing to Ramza on my TV screen -- which was pretty funny at 3am. However it was too cumbersome so we changed it to Noselack, which was also cumbersome so I suggested "Schnoz" as an alternative to "Nose"; thus my name was born. I however forgo the "c", as it seems unnecessary.
Avatar: A photo that dosen't stress overly-strong gender emphasis, manipulated by computer to have no nose and perfect, though sickly, white skin and lips that look like they could cut things. |

I had to choose a gamertag when signing up for Xbox Live and wanted to pay homage to "The Adventures of Pete and Pete." Since Papercut was already taken, I turned Endless Mike into what you see here.
Avatar is a slot machine reel I saw on a cruise ship. Told me to "Insert Credit" and "3x ladies starts the bonus." That advice has stuck with me since. |

that is not a good thing.
my avatar is from one of my favorite movies. but my avatar also changes a lot.
my name is German cuz I like that stuff. not Nazi stuff but German military stuff in general because they were so evil and cool looking and no matter how well designed their equipment was they still lost so I find that interesting. I think I picked the name awhile back after playing a lot of 'Return to Castlewolfenstein' and I was on a SS Nazi zombie binge. |

I remember one time we had a discussion on women that eventually led to a couple of us talking about a member's wife (and occasionaly poster maybe) in a dirty pronographic sense. Sorry Doug! You know we love you!
Our other conversation about women was pretty good, but the thread was called Steak and Blowjob day, so, yeah. Very feminine, here! |

Avatar: For as long as I've known SF, I've played as Ryu. Back then I was definitely a turtling type, who'd wait for openings and hit back hard - Ryu's 1-hit moves were perfectly suited to that. Nowadays I'm more of a bulldog, and although Ken would be more appropiate, Ryu is what I'm used to. Also, my avatar is Evil Ryu. A long time ago, I played Half-Life mods (The Specialists, CS, DoD) a whole lot. I mean an extreme amount. They speak l33t on that stuff you know.
I also listened and still listen to a lot of ska music. In ska circles, one who loves ska and has a deep appreciation for it's history is a Rudie, Rudy or Rudeboy.
I know too many Johns in real life (and on the internet!) I took to just letting people call me Rudie to avoid confusion.
Then one day in a dazed state I called out, "I'm a l33t Rud13!"
Since I've extensively used the internet I've being stealing a 8-bit protoman sprite from seanbaby as my forum avatar. During ToF2005 DonMarco drew a picture of Protoman in a suit, as for my character as myself as Rud13.
So I sniped part of it and that's my current avatar. |

I was at one point talking to an associate in an IRC chatroom while said associate was playing some manner of Sim City game. He was complaining that his city was covered three breadboxes high in crime while he had no money at all to stop it. I suggested he start a fundraiser and sell tacos. He thought that the tacos would just be stolen by the criminals who seemed to make up 60% of the population. I then suggested the formation of a Taco Task Force to protect the tacos. Then his citizens revolted and started a socialist city-state or something.

Uh, I used to be Rez, which, contrary to popular belief, did not come from the rail shooter. I had a psychotic percussion teacher who, during practices, would tell me that I was "rezzin' it up" (aka doing well.) I guess it stuck enough that I used it as my handle for quite some time.
After a while, internet people that I would end up becoming friends with outside of computahs would neglect to use my real name, which I found irritating. I had set a high score on some arcade game (methinks In The Groove or Soul Calibur 2), and punched in !!!! as the display name because I ran out of time. It's my handle of choice now. |

I chose 'scratchmonkey' because, well:
http://www.jargon.net/jargonfile/s/scratchmonkey.html
Yes, I had just read Count Zero.
This also means that there are other 'scratchmonkeys' floating around out there. Most of them seem to be part of FPS clans, so there hasn't been much crossover.
Still, the whole thing makes me lean towards changing it. To what, I don't know.
My avatar was a composite of a slime sitting on top of my head based on a picture of me from Burning Man. It was/is an awesome piece of art by Persona, whose server has been fubared. If anybody has a cached version of it, please let me know, thanks. |

in seventh grade, i was pursuing a romance with a (gasp!) japanese girl. Kappuru means "couple". and it's what she sounded like when she said we'd make a great "couple."
She's the only japanese girl I've ever dated.. and only asian when I think about it. I prefer to be friends with most asian girls, not part of a "kappuru."
Now.. some people call me "Kap" in real life. |

Hori Taizou is . . .
Well, HORU 掘る = to dig.
HORITAI 掘りたい = i want to dig.
ZO ぞ = big exuberant male sentence intensifier.
HORITAIZO means "IT'SA ME, I'A WANTSA DIG!!"
The extra "u" just draws the sound out.
"Hori" is also a reasonable last name. Taizou is also kind of a reasonable name.
Mr. Driller's name is Susumu. Hori Susumu. Susumu means "to progress" or "to move forward." The kanji for the name is 進. That is pronounced "susumu." The kanji for the verb susumu is 進む. You just put a "mu" on the end. No "mu," and it's still "susumu." It just makes it a proper name, in that case.
Fun stuff. |

This name is new. It's the name of a song written by the now defunct hard rock/folk/mathy band Chore, who used to play in Canadia mostly. It's actually a continuation to the song "a coma" which was on a previous album, but it's really just the end of that song played with distorted guitars, which is a real let down since "a coma" got me into them in the first place.
And the avatar next to it is the Bombchu girl of course. I feel they were meant for each other. |

I used to play World of Warcraft. Before that, I used either Kain or NakedNative as my main handles, but Kain sounds kinda childish, and NakedNative, though a well-earned name, doesn't fit in a Role-Playing server.
So i was reading A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin (Highly reccomended, but that's for another thread), and when i finished it, I found a 50 page concordenance of the all the houses and members of the houses used in the book. I flipped through it, and found Rykker, which i quite like. I use it for most everything now. (Except xbox live, where i'm still NakedNative)
Side-story: When i was playing as Rykker, I got messaged by someone, asking if i was the same Rykker from another server. After a brief talk, i found that someone had done the exact same thing as me on another server. Weird.
My Avatar would be Mordecai, from WWE RAW, but I can't get the damn thing to work. After i browse and find the image, i hit submit, and it tells me my profile was modified, but then nothing changes. You're all missing out. |

The Pendorf one - I used to be in a French forum where almost everyone took an Shining Force 3 Avatar, so I looked for the one who looked most like me and got the Pendorf one.
The Bernd one - I just watched Bernd and thought he is like awesome and that's why I took this avatar now.
Might change in future. I need to find an avatar combining Shooter, RPG and Programmer in one. Like a space ship with a tri-Emblem on it and wearing glasses. Yeah, that would be cool. |
