That's pretty fucking amazing considering the price hasn't been announced yet. Dare I say, and I'm not a learned man in any way, mind you, that the PlayStation 3 will launch wwith a MSRP of $49.99 and sell 121 BILLION consoles?
Dare I? |

Someone with the power rename this thread "News News Linky", please.
Yes, this "obligatory" thing is getting on my nerves as well.

PUN INTENDED?
Is this a bad thing? The rating has never really been used, certainly never for a game of this profile. Maybe this will help to put it into more ommon use, and allow a little more freedom of expression? Maybe?
Nice naming scheme. Clever! Is that true about Falcom? |

| This is not a good thing. It's simply costing Rockstar and Take Two more cash to remove a feature that wasn't intended to be a part of the final game in the first place. The ESRB buckled under pressure from loudmouthed politicians and pundits instead of investigating the issue in a level-headed manner. I can't say I'm that surprised, yet the outright idiocy of the situation is hard to ignore. |

Okay. I see now that stores have STOPPED SELLING the game. You can't buy it from Gamestop anymore, for instance. So that's retarded.
Yeah, this isn't a good thing. If anyone had a spine or a brain, it'd be a good progressive opportunity though. |

| Adults Only is like the NC-17 of game ratings. Nobody in their right mind who would want to make some sort of profit off their game would make a game that warrants that rating, "art" or not. Didn't someone in another thread mention something about the difference between Sands of Time and Warrior Within in regards to the ratings? How they simply used the Mature rating to sell more copies when Teen could have worked just as well like it did in the first game. I'm with that guy, game industry politics are bullshit. |

Well that's an interesting thought. Aren't we at the point though where the majority of big spending gamers are 18+, though? I'm not so sure that an AO would be the box office poison of the videogaming world. |

| We could get by without having to go to Wal-Mart or other major retailers, sure, but now Gamestop is refusing to sell it. It's kind of hard for people like us to buy it if nobody will sell it to us. |

You'd think so; however, most of the videogame sales take place at places like Walmart, who won't carry AO games. It's gotten to the point where the big retailers can actually have control over content -- if they don't like a game, there's a chance that the game will have to be changed or cancelled entirely. |

Well they're probably pretty shocked and appalled right now. They're a big company and this came without any warning, they would need time to write out and legally bulletproof procedures and regulations, train employees to spot fake IDs and all that jazz necessary for the selling of strictly 18+ titles. Thing is, there's never BEEN an AO title that was actually released (unless someone wants to correct me), so there's no infrastructure already place to sell them yet.
And maybe section off a little closet with a divider curtain or something to store the titles.
Dollars to doughnuts the next GTA comes in two vulgar flavors. |

Lindbergh is not based on Xbox 360.
No shit. One news website predicted that it was on the 360 and then 50 other websites followed. I knew that it'll be based off of Sega's own genius hardware design.
I'm more excited about Sega revealing their next arcade hardware than about those 3 next-gen home consoles. Lindbergh is a crappy name though, it should be Naomi 3 since the Naomi family has been so popular in the arcades. |

I wonder if Naomi has too much Dreamcast-related baggage. Might be a good idea to start new. |

Well the Naomi family pretty much saved the arcades, is absolutely loved by arcade game makers, is on a Famicom-level of easy maintenance and arcade owner <-> system maker's relationship, is cheap and doesn't break, and is now a nice base for anyone to upgrade their games (i.e. fighting games with more dash and slash behind their original titles)...
Commercially, it makes complete sense. Which is shocking from Sega, yet not that shocking from Sega AM. |

I don't know if this is the proper place to raise the issue but Ubisoft has recently revealed that the DS version of the Prince of Persia series will be totally crazy.
I can honestly say that I expected to live the rest of my life without seeing Prince of Persia in a turn-based format. |

This thread needs both a name change and a sticky. Especially a sticky.
Dalektron -- a Robotron clone coded by a father and son team. Based around the current series of Doctor Who, with Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith instead of "human family" members. |

ETA: It appears that pretty much everything at that page and linked to by it are broken. I'll see if I can find any sites still running it.
EYATA: Actually, the version on the page above works, it just takes a bit to load/is a bit laggy. You can access it directly at:

He's used Hartnell as the Doctor as well, which is a nice touch.
I didn't know that the guy who originally programmed Daleks on the Macintosh back in 1984 also programmed 'Ingemaar's Skiing Game', which was one of my favorites, along with Pararena, The Fool's Errand, Spaceward Ho! and Robosport (the forgotten Maxis game). |

I like Magic and Megaman Battle Network and stuff, but I have to say that that's one of the least compelling concepts for a game I've ever seen.
Edit: It looks fucking ugly, too. |

perhaps they added horseback combat.
I know I would certainly not disagree with riding on a horse while pumping shotgun shells into hideous mutated beings. |
