So apparently the unreleased N64 game that was being slightly hyped up on the Lost Levels is in fact O.D.T..
If you look in the box of crayons, colored pencils and markers I keep for just these occasions, you will find a rather unpleasant brownish-red I've labeled "disappointed". Hand that to me, please! If you cannot find that, I will settle for the mellow and somewhat frayed green one labeled "unexicted".
I am a highly negative person being highly negative! I think it's time for bed. |

Here are the rumored specifications for the Nintendo Revolution, as revealed by a game designer from European studio Factor 5. In case you haven't been keeping score, they're the ones that salvaged the Turrican series after Accolade mutilated the first game on the Genesis.

Mmm... beefy! Oh yeah, this'll be more than powerful enough for me, if these tech specs are the real deal. However, I can't imagine how Nintendo will be able to sell this hardware for less than $300 and still turn a profit.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Go check out http://www.game-science.com/.
The Game Boy Micro sold 170,309 units last week (12-19).
1 - Game Boy Micro - 170,306
2 - Nintendo DS - 72,167
3 - PlayStation Portable - 70,152
4 - Playstation 2 - 24,396
5 - Game Boy Advance SP - 11,147
6 - Game Cube - 1,882
7 - Game Boy Advance - 624
8 - Xbox - 109
HAHAHA XBOX YOU ARE NICHE AND UNPOPULAR! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Considering it would take 1700 GBMs to fill up an Xbox, it's actually pretty understandable that the GBM is outselling the Xbox 1700:1. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA |

If that's true we can pretty much put the multiplatform issue to rest. It'd be like putting Ninja Gaiden Black on a Dreamcast. You can make a joke about the fishing rod controller here if you want. |

(mostly for aderack):
there's an official Castlevania website now. Nothing interesting yet, but there is promise of a "series timeline" that might be cool when it's up! |

It really boggles my mind, especially given apple's stated reason for leaving ibm was performance. Even though it's probably about making laptops faster, as well.
Has anyone gotten the x86 version of tiger yet? |

so. following the release of myst V, all cyan worlds employees other than rand miller and tony fryman were laid off. so. i guess the ending's finally been written.
incidentally, if you're playing myst V, don't draw anything on the slate that you're not 100% sure is supposed to go there. game-breaking things will happen. seriously. don't do it. |

mind if I ask what happened to the series after Myst III? did it mainly stay the same or did it go more plotty? actually, I don't think I know anything about it past the ending of Riven.
which is odd, since I've always wanted to turn the Myst concept into an SRPG that mixes kingdom building and Tactics-style battles. |

riven (the greatest adventure game ever made) was developed by cyan worlds, the original creators of myst. myst III and myst IV they licensed to ubisoft, because they were working on uru. myst III was mediocre but tolerable, and myst IV was an improvement but still seemed to miss the point.
uru was intended to be an online multiplayer project, but had to be retooled at the last minute as a single-player game. so it's good, good stuff, as anything from cyan is, but it's not without its problems, many of which spring from the third-person perspective (necessitated by the leap to multiplayer) and from the game's general sense of unfinishedness. two expansion packs were released, which are now being sold in a single package with the original game.
myst V: end of ages is by cyan (possibly the last game that will wear that description). it's really a sequel to uru, and it deals with Grave Matters Indeed. i'm only a quarter-to-a-half of the way through it, and it's looking pretty fantastic. mostly because it's a single-player game by cyan which was conceived as a single-player game. it's really quite fabulous, and cares not a whit whether you played myst III or myst IV. |

All of myst III's worlds felt like they were built so you could go through them.
Which is actually goes along with the plot. What turned me off Exile though was that you could if saved at the wrong moment, make the game unwinnable.
None of the puzzles involved in that game go near the marble puzzle of Riven though, thank god. |

which means that the writers took the cheapest possible way out, really.
that marble puzzle is a lot of work, but i think it's worth it. just...have some graph paper on hand. |

The hilarious thing about that game is that Peach like, totally FIGHTS WITH HER EMOTIONS.
Think about that for a second.
Though, yeah, despite it offending my latent feminist sensibilities, the game itself looks really good. Yoshi's Island good, maybe. |

I sort of wonder if these beeps and boops might be morse code or something like that. I doubt it severely, but I can't disprove my theory since I lack a working knowledge of morse code. |

There's actually several sequences it changes between. And every so often, the professor will look over his shoulder at you.
I tried CWGet, some morse code program, but it's horribly fucking confusing, and gives me complete gibberish. So, it's either just noise or I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing.
To tell the truth, I'm much more worried about mystery project #2. That kind of looks like a Mana logo, doesn't it? I doubt it is, but....geez, I don't know.
Anyway, in terms of handheld news that isn't cryptic, here's a trailer for the GBA game based on HiHi Puffy AmiYumi:

What the fuck? |

Big news for PSP owners who want to turn their $250 portable into a $25 semi-functional Super Nintendo:
A 2.0 to 1.5 firmware downgrader now exists. So, everyone who downloaded Sony's "update" can now undo that and open the ability to run homebrew games back up. |

Ive just done this on my Europe 2.0 PSP. It works fine and dandy. Now for the emulation! |

Okay. I see now that stores have STOPPED SELLING the game. You can't buy it from Gamestop anymore, for instance. So that's retarded.
I know a guy that can help you with that, I will see if I can get him to post here. |
