Does that mean they're gonna give us strafing? I can't imagine playing with 4's control scheme but faster, unless I suppose they scaled back the combat.

perhaps they added horseback combat.

I know I would certainly not disagree with riding on a horse while pumping shotgun shells into hideous mutated beings.

I've been thinking that, but I then I look at Peter Moore and I think Victoly.

Strangely nobody's mentioned if these same titles will be coming to PS3. Maybe that's what the Tokyo Game Show is for.

Kutaragi started out by reconfirming that the PS3 will be backwards-compatible with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games and support high-definition TVs. "We're looking at a life cycle of 10 years with the PlayStation 3. We're currently shifting from standard TVs to HD TVs," said Kutaragi. "But in the next couple of years, most flat-panel TVs will be full HD. We're releasing the PS3 with full HD features from the start so that consumers won't have to buy another version of the console in the future. For the same reason, we're using Blu-ray as the PS3's disc format."

"I'm aware that with all these technologies, the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households. I think everyone can still buy it if they wanted to," said Kutaragi to a mostly Japanese crowd. "But we're aiming for consumers throughout the world. So we're going to have to do our best (in containing the price)."

Then Kutaragi issued a somewhat ominous warning. "I'm not going to reveal its price today. I'm going to only say that it'll be expensive," he stated.

I have that feeling.

Microsoft is going to try harder this time, but with the PS2 line-up this xmas and the DS having so much interest I think the Japanese are going to pass for the most part.

Also in this new forum we should make a rule that all women shall be called "Linda" just like in Double Dragon.

Yeah, but I don't think nearly as bas as last time, where people literally took MS's money and ran.

Don't many people believe that all that time and research spent on True Fantasy Online, which was funded on MS's payroll, and which was eventually cancelled, is now in some PS2 online RPG?

GP32 successor unveiled, http://www.gpx2.com/product/product.asp

Quotes from the site:

Provides affordable and abundant contents through open license policy
Affordable hardware price
Dual core 'ARM920T, ARM940T' is embedded in GPX2.Enjoy cutting edge music, movies, and games with powerful dual CPU
CPU which has 2D accelerator enables you enjoy games anytime anywhere. Meet the exclusive GPX2 games along with abundant emulators such as MAME, SNES, Genesis, PC Engine etc (Backwards compatibility?)
you can watch 320*240(30frame) of video file for approximately 8 hours and listen to mp3 file for approximately 14 hours (LCD off ) continuously with 2AA batteries.

Sounds awesome in a jar! Also of note, the analogue stick is actually digital which is another big plus.

Power edit : Each of the dual processors have the ability to be clocked at 250mhz. Add to this the 2d accelerator and you've got a power house of a portable games console. Of course, 2x250mhz processors on 2 AA batteries may not be a good idea.

Its a port of a port. Originally ported to GP32 now to the PSP known as SmashGpsp v0.1. This is a very fun and nicely made port of his homebrew Super Smash Brothers for the Gp32. It has excellent sound, graphics, gameplay and plays full screen.

The Controls:
– Pad / Analog: control your character
– Up / Square / Triangle: jump
– Cross: simple move / take object / use object
– Circle: super move
– L: protection
– R + Cross: catch someone (without object) / throw object (+ direction)
– Start: pause
– Start + Select: return to main menu

Smash moves are triggered when moving fast in a direction + pressing the Cross
button instantly after.

It currently only has Mario and Luigi character, but you can download additional ones here: http://www.gp32x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,41

Download here: http://files.pspupdates.com/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,12,913

EDIT: I don't know if this is new or not, but it is neat for Out of this World/Flashback fans: http://onescapee.invictus.hu/

I am not completly blind. I mean, I know how to read and click on a link to follow it to this info:

"Earlier this week, Majesco disclosed to its shareholders that it was expecting a full-year loss. The CEO, Carl Yankowski, resigned amidst a flurry of share price drops and lawsuits, resulting in almost a 50% price reduction on the stock."

They were also involved in the class action lawsuit as stated.

I guess I just figured everyone else would click the link and read the update.

This is an interesting interview. Greg Orduyan is like Itagaki, except he insults the company he works(worked?) for.

And about the game. It's too bad it was cancelled. Damn you Sony for announcing PS2! Actually it's probably more of Konami being an ass and cancelling all of there DC games. Isn't the only Konami game for DC like DDR 3rd mix and Pop n' Music?

GameFAQs sez there was also: ESPN NBA 2Night (which was apparently awful), The Grinch (exceedingly mediocre), Silent Scope (depends on who you ask), ESPN International Track & Field (apparently half-decent), Nightmare Creatures II (ahem), Dancing Blade 1 & 2 (whuh?), Airforce Delta (apparently enjoyable), and some other sports games that may or may not have come out, not that anyone cares.

And, of course, the Dreamcast's killer app - Woody Woodpecker Racing. Although it was apparently cancelled.

EDIT: and yeah, that guy is a jackass. Stupid art directors :(

I know I'm not the only one who thinks that would have been pretty awesome, if done right. I wouldn't mind seeing Castlevania go back to a more stage based design for at least one game.

I've just found out through some research that the GPX2 will be under 200 USD. It will be launched in October. The GPX2 will not run GP32 software. It will be able to use the highest of SD cards (4 GB). The GPX2's successor will have wifi capabilities(putting wifi in the current GPX2 would raise the price too high.)

I found this information from the GP32 Xtreme forums. Apparently this information is from emails that the members have been getting from GamePark after bugging them.

About Majesco: from someone I know who had dealings with them, apparently they're run mostly by one slimy family. It's basically like a second-rate mob family with delusions of grandeur and no real understanding of how videogames are made or sold.

You've probably all seen this, but IGA has spoken out about the new Castlevania titles:

-Igarashi doesn't want to "put out the light" on 2D games for home consoles. He says Europe doesn't like 2D gaming. There are a lot of financial considerations when making a 2D game, taking into account the fact that 2D games are generally not as successful these days. If he were to ever make another 2D Castlevania for home consoles, the fans' voices would need to be strongly heard.
-Igarashi is considering a new Castlevania game for PSP, now that the DS game's development is done.

You know, that seems incredibly insulting in a way. Mind you, I know a lot of artists who talk shit like this, however, nothing mean on the guy, but, comparing his artwork on his webpage to Ayami Kojima's, it doesn't seem like he should be saying stuff like 'well, she can draw'.

You know, write checks with your mouth that your body can cash and all of that.

That said, I'm not the biggest fan of Ayami Kojima's either. I like her stuff, but I'm not hardcore for it. I kind-of prefer the DX art and all of that, but I can acknowledge it's pretty and is technically very good. Better than my scrawlings. And definitely better than this guy's by far. And that's okay, because I'm not a professional artist presenting my character designs for consideration of work. Maybe that's why his comment bothers me a little.

But with hers, it's kind of like with Falcoon's stuff. He's a very good artist. Better than myself, most obviously. But I think to my personal tastes, there's only a 50/50 chance he'll hit the mark with his designs.

Either it's really cool or it really sucks with him.
