I grew up on a military base in Korea. Lived there from age 1 to 5. It was nice, I have some very fond memories. I'm almost certain the Korea I knew before no longer exists. Its so crazy that its become this big Asian powerhouse, especially on the tech side of things, and all of sudden, or so it seems. I remember a time where my dim-witted uncle could only find a job at Samsung, the home of the shitty rice cooker, and look at them now.

I recall one day when a cousin of mine came to visit my home. I lived in the city, he came from the village. I was fully clothed, he was totally naked, save a rubber band that acted as a belt of some sort. I remember being really pissed that he wanted to piss in my Pac Man glass; why the hell could he not use the toliet like me?

I also recall a very nice lady in a uniform that stopped by my place every morning. In America you had the milk man, in Korea we had a yogurt juice drink lady.

What's Tim's degree in? Cultural studies? ;D

My degree (which arrived YESTERDAY, thankfully) is in Chinese.

I do have three others, though, yeah. It's really no big deal, considering how hard it was to get a job even with four degrees.

And you know, you can't have four majors at a college without paying for all of them. Or, uh, at least, promising to pay for all of them.

I am going to Korea tomorrow night!

God as my witness, I'm fuckin' GOING TO KOREA.

I think I might enjoy it.

I have to go to Akasaka now.

Hey, a Korea topic.

...
Korean girls are crazy.
Korean food is good though.

I wonder if I could get my old title back.

This supposed "goodness" of Korean food is still up for debate, o' kimchee-suckers of the world.

What's wrong with Korean food?

The vegetables are pickled and tasty, the meat is marinated and tasty, the soups are spicy and tasty, and so on.

I'm thinking there's something wrong with YOU, dashPsiga!

Nothing wrong if you don't mind diarhea, fever and leprosy.

That's what happened to me after a week of living in Seoul.

I blame your poor diet of Taco Bell and Dr. Pepper being shocked into unhealth by the wonders of Koreacatessen, pale faced leper of Christianity!

EDIT:
Oho! It seems I've mistaken icycalm for Psiga!

You must be confusing me for your American brethren.

I only eat organic fruits and vegetables, organic chicken, lean beef, lots of fish, etc, etc.

I either prepare my own meals or eat in nice restaurants. I'd rather fucking die than eat Taco Bell.

Yes, I think he was talking to me. I was on a Taco Bell jag before leaving California. Chalupas and big cups of Dr Pepper. I've since grown fed up with Taco Bell, and have also ceased to drink sodas.

While the organic and range-fed edibles of the world are preferred, I loathe having to prepare meals for myself. Whole hours gouged from my day, and I hate it.

I'd become a breatharian but I don't trust the air quality around here; I'd become a sungazer but I don't have clear views of the rising and setting sun. Perhaps Bigu would work. I'm honestly considering whether or not I'd be ready to give up food indefinitely.

Don't forget they've got the most interesting film output in the region just in the last 5-6 years or so.

Modern Korean horror and action flicks are decent, but they're really just reinventing the wheel that Japan and China reinvented, respectively, in the 90s.

I think the most interesting aspect of their films is the output itself. I mean, their quality of film/editting has just raised incredibly in the last decade. It's almost Hollywood-like stuff they're getting into with the redundant CG and nicely color-corrected and well-developed film. It certainly beats out Japan anyway.

Well, with the way computers flourished in Korea, it's no surprise that just about everybody and their brother can work AfterEffects like a genius.

It's just a bummer (for me) that they too have the asian pacing problem (in my american eyes).

This bears repeating. There's a reason why many of my Americanized Korean friends won't touch a Korean girl with a ten foot pole.

[07:40] The Psiga: Zero. You are an incredible science man... Could you replace a Korean girl's brain with a Japanese girl's brain? That would be spiffy.
[07:41] ZeroTsuki: either way they will get all the answers on their history tests wrong
[07:41] The Psiga: It does not matter. I just want a Korean girl who isn't certifiably crazy.
[07:42] ZeroTsuki: why korean? they smell like kimchi
[07:42] The Psiga: If they weren't crazy, they wouldn't eat kimchee, now would they.
[07:42] ZeroTsuki: ... and milk cake... ghuhhh
[07:43] ZeroTsuki: korean milk cake is the worst thing ever
[07:43] The Psiga: Let me look at a picture of it.
[07:43] The Psiga: Does it have crab pieces in it?
[07:43] ZeroTsuki: you take milk, and somehow make it into a jelly with salt and citric acid +a week or two in the fridge in an uncovered container
[07:44] ZeroTsuki: crab? maybe strawberry
[07:44] ZeroTsuki: it tastes so fucking awful
[07:44] ZeroTsuki: it's not sweet
[07:44] ZeroTsuki: it's like eating leftover... conjealed... industrial something
...
[07:49] ZeroTsuki: but not like a baked cake, like a cake of mildew
[07:49] The Psiga: Pthegh.
[07:49] ZeroTsuki: yes, that's precicely it
[07:50] The Psiga: Persona keeps trying to get me to think that Korean food is okay.
[07:50] The Psiga: Here's my theory: Korean women are crazy, and that's why Korean food is shit.
[07:51] ZeroTsuki: korean food isn't shit as long as your are eating imitation korean food (made by americans or japanese)
...
[07:53] ZeroTsuki: you know why they shread the meat?
[07:53] The Psiga: To get to the other side?
[07:54] ZeroTsuki: they mix the meat from a varity of different parts of the animal for flavor. For instance, the most tasyt meat on a chicken is on the head and in the legs
[07:55] ZeroTsuki: chinese people also eat pickled pig anus
[07:55] ZeroTsuki: that isn't a joke, I've had it before too
[07:55] ZeroTsuki: pork sung is delicious, but it's creating is still a mystery to me, one that I wish to never unlock
[07:56] The Psiga: Like American hotdogs, but not ground into oblivion for the sake of plausible deniability.
...
[07:58] ZeroTsuki: see koreans don't eat anything unless it is rotten
[07:59] The Psiga: "The art of rotting food beautifully."

REPRODUCED WITHOUT PERMISSION. THAT'S RIGHT.

I have a bone to pick with Korean food since my favourite cafe at university got replaced during the holidays by a Korean cafe. I'm going to miss sipping coffee at that fireplace. :/

Korean food is superior to Japanese food....

At least the Korean dining experience is anyway...so much free side dishes....

I'll agree on the dining experience. That place we ate at with Matt and Elisa was pretty nice. I would've eaten more of the "plain" (seasoned) beef strips had I not been still reeling from my newly discovered carsick-when-riding-in-the-back-seat-of-a-VW-Golf.

AND DOG!!! LOLO AMIRITE?!?!

But seriously, my dad used to eat dog back in the day and it freaked the hell out of me. And I love pissing off Koreans with my love for dog eating jokes. They act like that shit still doesn't happen. Whatever.

Ever have cat sausage? Ask for it by name next time you're in Italy.

They also eat a lot of rabbit there. I should know.
