|
This forum is for discussion of game development, and design and implementation issues related to that. It's intended to collect threads related to game development projects that forums members are participating in, but it's also here for members to help other members with various dev-related topics, and to provide information on getting started. Here are some examples of what should go here:
- Project status threads, and/or development diaries
- Development questions
- Links to information on tools and resources
- Recruiting for projects |

Something of an ancilliary guideline, I guess: theoretical discussions about game design are welcome here, as well. Meaning, even if it's not for a particular project you're working on, feel free to post topics about technical or philosophical issues of game design from a developer perspective (as opposed to a critical perspective). In other words, save the pongism for real bout forum fury, and bring the ludology (for lack of a better term) here. My hope is that this will provide a healthy home for topics that are too esoteric even for the main forum.
I shouldn't have to bring it up, but it should be assumed that the general forum guidelines all apply here. I can't even imagine a scenario where they would become an issue in a forum with such a specific purpose as this one, but I figure I'd just make that clear right out just to be safe.
Additionally! Don't be afraid to lurk/post here even if you aren't involved in any projects. Discussion is open to all registered members and your contributions, suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
On that note, if you finish your game and feel the need to announce it to the rest of the forum proper, I suggest making a small post about it in the news thread, linking either back to your game's thread here and/or to its website, since I imagine the full IC population won't be checking this forum with equal frequency. |
