NEVER sell Saturn Bomberman. Both out of principle and financial means.

It is the sole and justifiable reason to devote a drawer in the living room to 10 Saturn controllers.

Cool. Nothing in the original catagory, but its a start. And they even have Rhino Rumble; I heard that game was hella rare (but not really).

Anyway, next question: anyone know what this is?

SD Snatcher is a RPG with several subplot additions to the general story.
Also:
SD Snatcher actually continues the story after the events of the Act 2 and takes the game to a slightly different conclusion than the later CD-ROM versions.

It's been translated, so gogogo.

Well I had googled as well, but everything I found that seemed to lead to the file lead to 404 Errors and crap. Thanks for finding it for me!

I mean, I'm guessing it's not the DS version, but......N64? Dreamcast? PC?

Looking for the name of a (mac only?) shareware game from the early 90s. The game was black and white and had you as a blimp floating over a pit like the flying saucer of Space Invaders over a full Tetris board. The pit started out filled with blocks that would explode/earn points/release monsters when you dropped bombs on them. I think the goal was to rescue people trapped in the blocks without letting the monsters get to them. Also if you bombed your way down to the bottom and hit the ground then you would release burried radioactive waste that would float up and kill you.

I'm 90% sure that at least some of them were taken by Brandon Sheffield (AKA exodus), who runs the site.

This is just speculation on my part; however, since I recognize some of the locations in the shots and both Brandon and myself frequent the same basic areas, I think it's a pretty decent guess.

HuCard Adaptors.

I have a Turbo Duo.
I have recently started importing games (Fatal Fury 2, Galaga '88).
I have a Arcade Card Duo in transit, but apparently I need a HuCard adaptor to play japanese games on my system.

Ebay turns up nothing. That site what sells brand new TG-16/PC-Engine stuff doesn't have anything either.

where they at?

the GBA port of R-Type III is an unplayable disaster; the developer didn't have the original source code and had to rebuild the game with the art resources only. D'OH!

Hopefully the original will show up on the Wii's virtual console sometime.

Confession: I bought the game for like $7 a long time ago and could never get into it. I'm no connoisseur of R-Type or shooters in general so was just wondering if it was just me or if the game actually was crap. You gave me the answer I needed, I think.

Still would like quick opinions on the above games, but one more question: is NES Metroid unlockable in Zero Mission?

They are hard to come by. And when you do find 'em they are pricey. Useally it is cheaper to just buy a Jap PC Engine to play HuCards.

I seriously recommend that you just get a PCE to play Japanese Hu-cards. You can get them for like $30 no problem.

FAKE EDIT: $22.50 with no cables right here.

REAL EDIT: That's like $55 shipped. That's about $25 less than I see converters go for at their cheapest.

Well, when I got my PCE-Duo boxed from them I just tossed in like 4 hu-cards games and the total was still about 70$ less than getting even the next cheapest deal outside of Japan I could find. Even including shipping from JGS.

is there a Tekken faq aimed at easing Virtua Fighter fans into the game?

I just picked up the joystick+tekken 5 combo pack for $30 and I can't figure out how to play Tekken at all. It seems so ugly and inelegant and canned combo oriented.

Just...just sell it.
I bought the collectors edition. Then I just sold back Tekken 5 (which apparently someone had replaced the original one in the box with the Greatest Hits.

Well, as with most fighting games, there is a significant amount of memorization necessary before you're actually playing the game, y'know? There isn't really an inherent logic behind why certain strings end up going mid or low, or why it's safe on block to do 2 hits, but not 3. The canned strings are almost never your best option, it's all about using pieces of strings linked together after launch/knock down. And then there's the character specific stuff like why so and so is more likely to try to launch after doing such and such, or when what's her face's oki is almost unbeatable and blah blah blah . . . but the same is true of vf, I guess.

So, uh, hit up tekken zaibatsu, don't expect d+p to do quite so well and be relieved at not having to perform 3 simultaneous throw breaks all the time.

I don't really play tekken 5 or virtua fighter . . . perhaps I'm finally beginning to understand this whole IC thing?

thing is, for me, virtua fighter 4 straight up felt natural for me the first time I played it; instantly hooked, I found the learning curve to be not so bad until I got into very high level play, where I plateau'ed out. But with Tekken 5 I feel like I'm mashing even when I'm trying to do the special moves I read in the character's move lists. It's slowly starting to gell but it's ugly, ugly, ugly... nothing flows nicely, bad transitions from move to move, and what feels like long recovery frame counts...

I'd still like to get decent at it despite all I find repellant because it's so fucking unbelievably popular in the USA and I'd like to be able to play it in the arcade with some level of skill, as I can with VF4 evo.

EDIT: it's starting to sorta, vaguely make sense, but not quite. I have no idea how to block properly.

I'm not fond of Tekken, and every time I want to get into the game, I find it impossible to play. I complained (on another forum) that it wasn't anywhere near as comfortable to play as VF4:Evo, and was told that, regardless of how much easier it would be in VF4, to learn every move for every single character. Including all the oh-so-expendable moves/characters in it, because I'm sure many would agree with me that many of the characters are expendable.

I'm running Magic Engine (various versions, demos and an old registered version), on a Windows XP PC, and I'm playing Dracula X running from an actual CD.

But I get no CD music AT ALL. I've tried other games, and also nothing. I do get sound FX though. I thought it must be my version, but they're all the same. (V1 won't even boot the CD! So it's V0.9 which I'm using)

Anyone know how I can easily fix this to hear music as well?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
I've also tried various ASPI drivers, including 4.3 for Win95, and the proper 4.6/4.7 which is apparently the latest... Neither had any effect.

Also, my computer doesn't even seem to recognise that the disc actually has any audio tracks at all!

EDIT2:
I just checked on my boss' MAC and it can read the audio files just fine... It only seems to be my crappy PC. I had been fooling around with the ASPI drivers... Could this be it?

No audio on DracX: You get the FX and occasional music because it is hardware made sounds. I had the same problem when I was still using magic engine. I fixed it eventually somehow, but I don’t remember. I know that when I did I still had a ton of weird audio glitches afterwards. This spurred me to just get a PCE-duo. Have you tried HuGo yet?

I don't think Tekken 5 is as bad as you guys would like to think, but I can sorta see where you're coming from, since I like VF4 more and can see why it's a better game. Aside from Mokujin, though, who's sort of a throwaway and more interesting random select, every character has plenty distinguishing characteristics (despite how retarded they all look). The tekken movelists are quite bloated though, yeah.

Re: Strings - There is a logic to whether a given hit in a string hits high/mid/low, ends with a punishable move, etc. Generally, the following hit of a string will be used to beat certain moves if the first hit is blocked, or as a mix-up between mid or low gaurd. Strings usually end in an unsafe move to create a degree of risk between doing 1 or 2 or 3 hits or whatever, since the opponent has to guess whether you'll do the next hit after the previous hit connects.

I also agree that 3D fighters tend to have a serious lack of focus in their movelists. I think if the developers earmarked the key moves it would be much easier for a player to figure out the basic tactics for their character, then add flourishes with the more gimmicky/risky moves once they've mastered the fundamentals. Even in VF you use about 1/5th-1/3rd of your character's movelist most of the time.

Fort: I don't think anyone knows. Every time it comes up amongst tekken players all I hear is "such and such character was just a giant fucking glitch!" and "they thought they could do anything with the engine". I mean, it turned out to be a 2-3 character game at high level play (Jin/Nina/Steve, I think). I wonder if there are some wacky videos floatin' around?
