| Like this. And it will let you play most burned stuff, provided it's not a funky copy of Spyro: Year of the Dragon or one or another game with wacky protection scheme that wasn't cracked properly, meaning most stuff on the internet right now works. |

The thing is, the Mega CD doesn't snap on too well, and I can't even fit the 32X at all. Is the Mega Drive in the set and the Genesis from the book made from the same mold/the same thing? Or do I need to get the default Mega Drive replica?
It looks like it's the same mold to me, but they might have been sloppier with making those then they were for the ones in the capsule release. The 32X and megaCD both fit together great with the megadrive. The megaCD doesn't "snap" in (the megadrive just sits on top of it) but the 32X does. |

Oh man does this question need a quick answer:
So I bought a Laptop the other day for like 500 bucks. I was basically looking for a glorified typewriter that can play all those glorius games I missed like Planescape Torment and the Fallout series, and that is pretty much what I got. My question then is thus:
Would it be worth my time to upgrade the RAM from 512 to 1gig? The thing comes with your basic crappy parts: 128 video card, 80g harddrive, 1.86ghz processor. Would purchasing the RAM be worth a wooden nickel, or would I see relatively no difference because the rest of the computer is made up of crud components? I'm basically looking for faster application running because I'm taking it with me next year for my study abroad extravaganza in Japan, meaning I won't really be playing any games on it.
Also, I would get the 512 chip for like 40 bucks. Worth my time? |

I guess it would be safe to go with it. My computer is slightly better than that laptop with 512 RAM, and it runs like crap and tends to hang a lot.
My question:
Where is the cheapest and safest place to get a fliptop mod/swapdisc combo for my v4 PS2?
Also, I unexpectedly got 200 extra bucks and have no intention to buy anything in the immediate future other than Dead Rising and the IIDX 13 OST, which I already have covered.
WHAT DO I DO WITH IT? (I was thinking Rumble Roses XX, still) |

| modchipstore.com, and it only took 2 days. I think that Play-Asia's Summer Sale is going on now, so you can pick up some nice stuff too. I think that the latest discs might actually be the same price as some of the older modchips, so you might want to look into those instead. |

| You've got a ways to go. I mean, the game itself isn't LONG, but you're nowhere near the end. It's worth it, though. Also, remember something about blood packets. They're useful if you want the good ending. I think. Something like that. You'll figure out when you need them. |

Since I don't feel like creating a new thread for an older game, I'll ask here:
I played the hell out of Dragon Force when it first came out in the US. I beat the game with every single general and then with Reinhart and Goldark and played through a couple more times just because I liked it so much.
I knew there was a Sega Ages version for PS2, but I didn't realize it was a remake and not a straight port. The Play-asia listing says there are extra characters and stuff, and though I don't speak/read Japanese I am positive I could figure it out since I've spent so much time with the game.
Has anyone played the Sega Ages remake of Dragon Force? Is it any good? |

There's no prompt or anything. It works fine on any GBA or DS.
The cart automatically recalibrates itself before starting the game (if it can't calibrate, then the game won't start). So no worries. |

Since it works fine on the SP and Micro, which also have the cartridge slot on the bottom, I'm sure it'll work on the DS. There's probably an option in the game (and in Yoshi Topsy Turvy) to specify if the cart is in the top or the bottom.
On the other hand, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble (Gameboy Color game with motion sensor) does NOT work correctly on the SP. (and, of course, no GB(C) games work on the Micro or DS) |

I think Laser Soft and RIOT were just labels Telenet had. They just stopped using them.
I wonder about Seismic. They seemed to be a pretty short-lived publisher. |

Basically, they're dead as dust, with the last thing to show for their work being that Flashback Legends (GBA) alpha floating around on the net.
I was planning to try and get contact several of them about FL, since I'm a considerable fan of Flashback. However, the more homepages I found for former staff members, the more I got depressed by the poor luck these people had. I ultimately decided that I didn't want to dredge up any bad memories for them.
Then again, maybe they'd feel nice if somebody contacted them and showed that they still cared....and perhaps one of them could put me in contact with Paul Cuisset, who was the real brains behind Delphine (or so it seems).
Those other names got me thinking, I kinda of enjoy this detective work...maybe I'll obsess over those tomorrow. |

Bullet-Proof Software
I'm not sure exactly what happened to Bullet Proof Software... it may technically still exist in some form as the brand was used as recently as the Dreamcast. But Henk Rogers, the man behind the company, moved from Japan to San Francisco and then Hawaii to start a new company: Blue Planet Software. The new BPS made The New Tetris and Tetris Worlds, but nothing since then as far as I know. Henk Rogers also started Blue Lava Wireless which made some shitty cellphone games. Which he then sold for 137 million dollars.
These days all he really does is troll message boards while preventing the Tetris Grand Master series from achieving its full potential. I'm not sure what you miss about the company, as it was rarely original. Though that doesn't stop Henk from claiming Miyamoto stole his ideas...
Have you spoken to Miyamoto about that and Zelda?
HR: Well, he’s a good friend. But no, we don’t specifically talk about RPGs. We talk about games in general and the philosophy behind them. The problem is, if you say something game specific, then there is the problem of, ‘Oh, you got that idea from me’, or vice versa. He’s a very simple guy – his reward for Mario is that he doesn’t have to wear neckties.
You should really read the whole interview if you're interested. |

Yeah, I've got Flashback Legends too. I was thinking of doing an article about it (as part of our "Whatever Happened to" series on unreleased games), but thinking about their sad demise (and what you've just said), I was thinking maybe I should do a full feature on the company, with a seperate two page article on FL?
What do you think DAIS?
Did you find any good leads I can nab off you? Actually, thinking about it, an (ex) colleague of mine interviewed them for an EDGE article on Flashback. Might be time I got back in touch with the guy.
EDIT:

I think I read something about Whoopie Camp being absorbed into Sony but I don't know if it's true.
Kokopeli was part of THQ. They seemed like just a label to me as they didn't develop games. My guess is that THQ didn't feel the need to use that name anymore.
Metro 3D still exists - http://www.m3deurope.com/
Renovation was a US Branch of Telenet. They closed it when they exited the Western market.
Realtime Associates still exists - http://www.rtassoc.com/ |

From Ezra Dreisbach, their main 3D guy: "I did do some work on the PSX later. After Saturn Quake was done I did a quick port of it to the PSX. Lobotomy was really hurting for cash at that point, and I hoped that we could get some publisher to sign us up to do PSX Quake. But for some reason, we couldn't get anyone to go for it. Lobotomy folded soon after."
An amusing find on the side: http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/saturn/ukrvs1.htm

That could be quite a good article - a clear overview of what they've done and how it did would be nice, if only to reinforce what a punch to the stomach Shaq Fu was. If you can get two pages out of Flashback Legends without most of it being speculation of the alpha, though, I'd be quite impressed. A blurb on the story would be good too (since I don't speak french, heh).
I act like I'm some super sleuth, but the only leads I have are three webpages from former staff members easily found via Google:
Thierry Levastre - http://www.bozo3000.free.fr/ (Shaq Fu 2? :( )
Denis Mercier - http://www.denisland.com/
Alain Ramon (I think) - http://ramal.free.fr/home_en.htm
As you can see, it's been a while since those were updated, but it's possible the email addresses are still active. And a few more of the former company members might have webpages. I'm too tired right now to find out. |
