I think Laser Soft and RIOT were just labels Telenet had. They just stopped using them.
I wonder about Seismic. They seemed to be a pretty short-lived publisher. |

Continuing djtiesto's inquiry, whatever happened to:
Whoopie Camp
Kokopeli
Lobotomy (I know they closed, but what happened?)
Metro 3D
Bullet-Proof Software
Renovation
Real Time Associates

Oh man, poor Delphine Software.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delphine_Software_International
Basically, they're dead as dust, with the last thing to show for their work being that Flashback Legends (GBA) alpha floating around on the net.
I was planning to try and get contact several of them about FL, since I'm a considerable fan of Flashback. However, the more homepages I found for former staff members, the more I got depressed by the poor luck these people had. I ultimately decided that I didn't want to dredge up any bad memories for them.
Then again, maybe they'd feel nice if somebody contacted them and showed that they still cared....and perhaps one of them could put me in contact with Paul Cuisset, who was the real brains behind Delphine (or so it seems).
Those other names got me thinking, I kinda of enjoy this detective work...maybe I'll obsess over those tomorrow. |

Bullet-Proof Software
I'm not sure exactly what happened to Bullet Proof Software... it may technically still exist in some form as the brand was used as recently as the Dreamcast. But Henk Rogers, the man behind the company, moved from Japan to San Francisco and then Hawaii to start a new company: Blue Planet Software. The new BPS made The New Tetris and Tetris Worlds, but nothing since then as far as I know. Henk Rogers also started Blue Lava Wireless which made some shitty cellphone games. Which he then sold for 137 million dollars.
These days all he really does is troll message boards while preventing the Tetris Grand Master series from achieving its full potential. I'm not sure what you miss about the company, as it was rarely original. Though that doesn't stop Henk from claiming Miyamoto stole his ideas...
Have you spoken to Miyamoto about that and Zelda?
HR: Well, he’s a good friend. But no, we don’t specifically talk about RPGs. We talk about games in general and the philosophy behind them. The problem is, if you say something game specific, then there is the problem of, ‘Oh, you got that idea from me’, or vice versa. He’s a very simple guy – his reward for Mario is that he doesn’t have to wear neckties.
You should really read the whole interview if you're interested. |

Yeah, I've got Flashback Legends too. I was thinking of doing an article about it (as part of our "Whatever Happened to" series on unreleased games), but thinking about their sad demise (and what you've just said), I was thinking maybe I should do a full feature on the company, with a seperate two page article on FL?
What do you think DAIS?
Did you find any good leads I can nab off you? Actually, thinking about it, an (ex) colleague of mine interviewed them for an EDGE article on Flashback. Might be time I got back in touch with the guy.
EDIT:
Thanks Luvcraft, for the answer. |

I think I read something about Whoopie Camp being absorbed into Sony but I don't know if it's true.
Kokopeli was part of THQ. They seemed like just a label to me as they didn't develop games. My guess is that THQ didn't feel the need to use that name anymore.
Metro 3D still exists - http://www.m3deurope.com/
Renovation was a US Branch of Telenet. They closed it when they exited the Western market.
Realtime Associates still exists - http://www.rtassoc.com/ |

From Ezra Dreisbach, their main 3D guy: "I did do some work on the PSX later. After Saturn Quake was done I did a quick port of it to the PSX. Lobotomy was really hurting for cash at that point, and I hoped that we could get some publisher to sign us up to do PSX Quake. But for some reason, we couldn't get anyone to go for it. Lobotomy folded soon after."
An amusing find on the side: http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/saturn/ukrvs1.htm

That could be quite a good article - a clear overview of what they've done and how it did would be nice, if only to reinforce what a punch to the stomach Shaq Fu was. If you can get two pages out of Flashback Legends without most of it being speculation of the alpha, though, I'd be quite impressed. A blurb on the story would be good too (since I don't speak french, heh).
I act like I'm some super sleuth, but the only leads I have are three webpages from former staff members easily found via Google:
Thierry Levastre - http://www.bozo3000.free.fr/ (Shaq Fu 2? :( )
Denis Mercier - http://www.denisland.com/
Alain Ramon (I think) - http://ramal.free.fr/home_en.htm
As you can see, it's been a while since those were updated, but it's possible the email addresses are still active. And a few more of the former company members might have webpages. I'm too tired right now to find out. |

That's really weird. www.metro3d.com no longer works. When I clicked your link, I saw a bunch of games I had no idea existed, along with a smattering of games that I assume they just published for the European market. Are all of their games Europe-exclusive now? I guess their US branch closed. |

Does anyone have experience with adapters that let you use a PS2 controller on an Xbox, and can give a recommendation?
I'm finding xbox versions of some fighting games are cheaper than ps2 ones, but I can't stand playing fighting games on an xbox controller. |

A lady friend wants a new game for a PSP but I don't know what to recommend her since I don't really give a rats about it.
Games she has liked are the sims, harvest moon, GTA, die hard trilogy, broken sword... so yeah |

She already has GTA:LC, Burnout Whatever, and Tomb Raider Legend.
I'm not sure if she'd dig lumines or katamari. I need to get her to play one of the PS2 games.

I use Magic Box http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-gm-49-en-70-1gk.html (sold out, I know, but maybe you can find it elsewhere).
I've tried it with both the Saturn controller (2nd Gen/Japanese) and the PS2 Sega Saturn controller. Only problem is the Saturn controller has no button that corresponds with the back button on Xbox. Other than that, both controllers work perfectly as far as I've tried (haven't used either for Live). |

Sounds like what she really wants is Animal Crossing DS. I thnk it's time for an intervention where you sit her down and let her know that you think she's going down the wrong path, and that all her loved ones hope that she gives up her expensive and self-destructive habit and turns to the beauty and love of the DS.

Cycle, I'll play MK DS when I move in...er...a little over a week from now. I think all of my Friend Codes are on there, if not the Wiki.
Do you need the official USB headset for the PS2, or will any one do?
I've probably only got one game that'll work (I hear EA is shutting down the servers on a bunch of games soon, so Burnout Revenge and TimeSplitters are probably out), but it'd be nice to actually talk to you all, assuming everyone is still playing Subsistence. |

Never played Heart of Darkness - heard it was more of an arcade-style game, whereas I preferred the focus on exploration and slow/methodical combat in Flashback.
*tries the demo, just in case*
.....holy shit, what was that? It's like Out of this World meets the Neverhood meets Dragon's Lair meets Commander Keen. Or something. Geez. I should see about grabbing the game up. Thanks for pointing this out!
As for the Flashback Legends alpha - uh, hmm. Well, I suppose there should be any major problems if I just give you this, and say to right-click save as. |

Did you play the original Shantae?
Well, even if Shantae Advance were just like the original Shantae only prettier, than it would be a welcome addition to the GBA library! If they still accept additions, I mean.
I mean, honestly, the videos still look pretty hot.
Look at it this way: It would probably be better than Sigma Star Saga! |

I blame Sigma Star Saga for wasting precious resources that could've led to the release of Shantae Advance. Even the original Shantae had GBA enhancements, which I thought was pretty cool.
Maybe they're gunning to be the last game for the GBA just as they did with the GBC? Maybe they are so late they'll now add DS enhancements? |

I'm looking into getting a 100% unlocked save onto my ps2 memory card for Shadow of the Colossus.
I have been looking at the shark connector and the x port, yet both are too expensive for me.
anyone know if there is a way to get a save file onto my mem card other than paying through my nose? I have a flip top, so if anyone knows of programs, cheaper chords etc. (perhaps you were insane enough to beat all the time attack challenges and would take something in exchange for a copy of your file?) please let me know.
Actually beating time attack isn't an option, unfortunately. |

That has a program that allows you to burn a save to a cd, put the cd in a PS2 that can play "backups", and the program will then allow you to transfer the save to your memory card. The .rar file also comes with step by step instructions and file-building software (i.e. converting an x-port save into a gameshark save or whatnot).
One thing of note is that after you save the file to your memory card their will be an additional corrupt file of 3kb. Delete that before you load the save in the game of your choice. |

i figured if anyone on the internet would know about it, it would be here. it looks like a capcom game meets jet set radio meets DDR. when you execute a supercombo, you have to hit direction buttons in a rhythm! even if it sucks, the art style is so attractive to me. |

I know that we had a whole thread about this a while back, but to be honest, I wasn't too clear by the end what the best one to get was. I think Japanese?
Anyway, my VERY quick question: any 32X owners around here? If so, want to buy my copies of Kolibir and/or Tempo? I'll offer them dirt cheap. Just trying to trim the fat (I don't even own the system anymore, don't know why I decided to hold on to them... on the odd chance I'll be at a party and the guy will have a 32X? Yeah, stupid reasoning). |

The one thing I was waiting for was some sort of confirmation that Senko no Ronde works on the Asian X360 system. And maybe Project Sylpheed, whenever that arrives. Also whatever happens to new Culdcept will determine which region I end up getting.
Please for USA release and no region lock! |

Aren't they stupid cheap now? You could probably get both for the paltry sum of $10!
Shinobi will kick you in the nuts. Instant Deaths from falls. No checkpoints. Fuck Level 5.
Nightshade will kick you in the teeth. There's a retry counter in Nightshade that shows how much you suck. Though it has checkpoints, unlike Shinobi. I really appreciated that.
It's a tough choice, depends on how you like your ninjas. Man ninja or Lady ninja. Either one will leave you with a shattered controller. |
