Oh, is Try Rush Deppy any good? If anyone has any good, obscure import recommendations, I'm all ears.

Tryrush Deppy is a solid pretty platformer.
The levels are interesting in that you can speed through them in less than five minutes but there are so many optional subquests in each stage it can add another 10-15 minutes of play.

I haven't spent nearly enough time with this since essentially you are timed. You need to keep collecting gas in order to continue(Using the dash attack, getting hit, and just moving will use up gas). Kind of pricey though..

I just realized that I got Super Tempo a whiles back and I have yet to even give it for a spin.

Actually, I did once when I got it, but was immediately confused. Maybe I'll try again tonight.

Do it, but don't forget to change the sound options to "strictly mouth-made sound effects".

PostPosted: Thu Jul 21, 2005 4:17 pm    Post subject: Well now

I have managed to successfully 1CC Guardian Heroes on the hard difficulty. Granted I used broken as fuck Nicole but eh..

Anyhoo I figure I'll write a Guardian Heroes FAQ over the weekend..Nice and deep like some sort of fighting game guide(I'm not doing any frame counting however).

I'll be away from my Saturn and the internet during this time however so uh...hmm..eh well..maybe I better put it off for a few more days.

WHOOPS: I also beat the game with Han without continuing..on Hard of course..Go me.

Guess I gotta take back some of the nasty things I've said about this game eh?

I don't know, the Saturn never really played a big part at any time in my life. I was the only one I knew that had it and up to a year ago, I had only three games for it: Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Jam, and Panzer Dragoon. Panzer Dragoon I played heavily, I loved it and still do. When I wasn't playing that, I was playing Gunstar Heroes. My early childhood was a little Sega dry.

I didn't even play Nights till two months ago.

Then DeusJester made mention of Panzer Dragoon Saga. That's about when the Saturn started getting major attention, like that old magazine you find laying around an attic or basement you read to relive something. Now I own the complete Panzer Dragoon series and Nights. Not to mention Street Fighter Alpha 2 - the only Alpha I actually like.

Exactly. I recall in the last Saturn thread someone looking for Nanatsu Kaze no Shima Monogatari art scans off the omake disc. Now who wants (or will host) 65MB worth of .bmp's now that I've got 'em?

Phoenix Rie just uploaded all those pictures to my website, you can find them here.

ahh Saturn.. probably the most hardcore system besides the Neo Geo AES.

an unlimited number of obscure import titles and console incarnations and its probably the best shooter system out there (with the Dreamcast being a close second).

myself, I own a V-Saturn and Bomberman S-Bomb pad and Radiant Silvergun. good times.. good times..

Yeah the Saturn is a "hardcore" system, but the PC-Engine is in a category above even that. It's NEC's little machine that could. 8-bits, amazing library. And its american counterpart flopped even harder then our much maligned Saturn.

Please don't get me wrong I'm as fanatical about the Saturn as you can get. And I'll say that the 2D playfield hardware has no equal on a home console period. Sorry to digress, can we get a PC-Engine appreciation thread?

We tried several times. It never works. Everybody likes the PC Engine, its strenghs are pretty obvious and its story is quite known - there's not much to discuss about.

Isn't that a bit of a blanket statement? You and I may know everything about it, but I'm sure that doesn't extend to everyone. Just trying to pass on some knowledge thats all.

I figured the boards' return would usher in a new "Now with 50% less me-too posts" era. A bit myopic I suppose.

Fair enough, theres always the PC-FX.

I purchased policenauts for 588 yen, boxed and shrinkwrapped, with the artbook, in a shop in Nakano Broadway.

It's a great game, but I haven't played it in a month.
It requires a pretty decent spoken comprehension of japanese, as theres so much damn kanji in this game that the subs are only of help half the time.

Wachenroder is pretty sweet. Sega Rally still kicks ass. Bubble Symphony is so fun and full of Taito fan service it's disgusting. Layer Section? Fuck yeah. And considering when it was made relative to the history of survival horror, Deep Fear ain't too bad at all.

CD games aside (there are so many of them! they are so beautiful!), check out Bloody Wolf (classic and silly arcade action with some neat tunage), Coryoon (FRUIT FOR SCORE), Download (semi-freaky shooter), Legend of Hero Tonma (for the oldschool musics), the Neutopia games (for their amazing Zelda clonage), and Photograph Boy (because it's awesome and desperately needs a DS remake/sequel).

You never know - the dragon could've just ran smack into his fist or something.

We can't judge, dessgeega. We just can't.

Quickly off the top of my head, lets mix it up a bit:

Gunhed/Blazing Lazers
Ninja Spirits (ESSENTIAL)
Y's I & II (ESSENTIAL)
Tengai Makyo Ziria (Far East of Eden)
Dungeon Explorer (5-player Dungeon Crawler. Although the SegaCD ver. is a bit better.)
Kato & Ken/JJ & Jeff (oddball 2D sidescroller, worth a peek)
Splatterhouse?!
Valis (I-IV they're all worth playing)
Dynastic Hero (Which is a port/sprite hack of Monster World III)
Parasol Stars

Strangely there are few ports of classic NES games, namely Ninja Gaiden, and a two of the Kunio games (Super Dodgeball & River City Ransom).

Tonma is definitely neat.

I'm skipping over a most of the shooters, 30 bombermans, and most of the CD library...I'm gonna have to compile a list for those.

EDIT: Moved. Can a mod delete this?

Nice deal, the book alone is worth that. Including stickers for your stunner still baffles me. Speaking of which, trying to play that with the gun makes it a hell of a lot more difficult.

Currently playing Gunbird while I wait for Sengoku Cannon. All those Psikyo verts are so alike, but I don't mind really.

I slapped one of the stickers on my DS because all of my friends and I have identical platinum DS' and wanted to be able to tell it apart. Guess I kinda ruined whatever value the game might have had, but it's not like finding another one is too hard.

Being able to control the car from Daytona USA cemented AM2's genius then and forever.

Megamix was so loaded with secrets and crazy character variants it was nuts. I remember playing with some friends and all of a sudden the 1P character turned into the AM2 palm tree. We never figured out what we did that caused it.
