i think my penis just exploded!!
if you have specific questions about specific titles, i will answer them to the best of my ability.
the package just . . . feels a little too light, though. how can twenty-five games be in here?!?!?! |

Then how EVER did I play it to completion last night?!?!?
Rastan Saga is on volume one, Rastana Saga II is on volume two.
I mostly just played Rastan, Cameltry, and Light Bringer last night.
Will play more, later.
I fear starting up Elevator Action Returns because it will, uh . . . you know. I might play it too much!!
Also played Darius Gaiden!!
I really wish Legend of Kage was on this volume.
You know, there's no reason at all to write a review of this collection. It just speaks for itself. I should just give it four stars and write it up EGM-style on my front page. Make bold text that says "buy it, okay?" |

Probably!! It'd be stupid for no one to pick this up.
I mean, the shit on here is ten times better than anything released on Sega 3D Ages. The sheer volume of games -- hell, for a US release, they could put all fifty on one disc; that'd set a nice example -- is enough that they don't have to upgrade the graphics or anything.
And they all play so WELL, and SMOOOOTH.
If only Konami would make a "Super Famicom Memories" collection!!!!!
Yeah, that'd be cool. |

Taito needs to bring these compilations over here, damnit. We need a distraction from all this 'Hot Coffee' BS.
I saw a website that had a listing of the games included on both volumes, IIRC The New Zealand Story is on Vol. 2... I vaguely remember my first time playing the arcade version, although I had it in MAME for a while, having a US PS2 version of TM with that on it would own on all sorts of levels.

That's not a bad question. Did someone rebalance the difficulty?
Rastan Saga is on volume one, Rastana Saga II is on volume two.
Oh! Well then.
Rastan Saga II blows. The Freddie claws are kind of nice.
Yeah, you picked some good games to play.
Fuck, Taito should just bring out its own console. Call it the "Titan". |

No, it's still as unbalanced as ever. These are fucked-up old-school arcade games, after all.
Why, Chaz, I have played Elevator Action Returns, and it sounds wonderful.
The problem is, being an arcade-perfect emulation, here, it . . . well, it's a little smallish. My TV does not do it justice, and I can't see the bullets so well.
Still! It's fun!
I need a new controller to play this two players. Then I need . . . someone to play it two players with. I should take it to Drew's place. He's got a huge fucking TV. |

not as sexy as this. (courtesy nfg.)
also, taito arcade memories emulates these games more perfectly than mame. in particular, the graphics emulation in darius gaiden and elevator action returns is missing a bit in mame. in arcade memories, it's perfect.
however, you have to unlock bubble bobble, kiki kai kai, and cameltry. i've unlocked the first two so far (just by playing), but they really should have been there from the start. |

you mean MAIM, as in MAIM the game, and your computer too most likely once you start telling it it's actually an arcade PCB........
'system unstable' - probably a familiar message to you eh?
what's next? hardfile partitioning?
ANYway..........
i grew to like Mame, the musical, just from watching Connie and Carla. That's much better.
Hopefully, once I get my coupons and discount from play-asia sorted, Taito Memories will be my final purchase from there. I'm going to buy it anyway, and I got funds and aff. money to use there and want out, so that's the plan. |

bubble bobble is pretty fantastic. my sister and i played it to the end last night (after unlocking it! grrr).
the arcade version is a bit easier on the eyes, but that's about it. and that one melody they loop endlessly sounds a little better, which is fortunate, because they loop it endlessly.
majestic 12 (the space invaders with the cow abductions) is also great fun. |

disappointingly, not very well. the only switches you can set are for number of lives per credit and (where appropriate) difficulty. refreshingly, there is an "insert coin" button (it defaults to L2).
the options screen appears before you start up the game, and can also be accessed while the game is paused. it just lets you set the lives and difficulty and allows you to remap the controls. you can map a single button to more than one actual controller button, which is nice.
you can make a custom list of games? aside from that, there aren't many frills. |

Huh! I'd map it to Select, myself. Just because. You know.
What buttons can you remap to? Only the four faces and shoulders? Or does it accept weird things like R3 and L3, or D-pad (or analog!) directionals?
you can make a custom list of games?

curiously, in my mame setup i have "insert coin" mapped to the L2 button (and "start" to the R2 button).
but yeah, just the shoulder and face buttons.
and no, i have no idea why you'd want to make a custom game list. |

Why can't more game be like Silent Hills 1 and 2?
What was the game... Oh, Neo Contra. All I wanted to do was set "X" to fire, and I couldn't. I could only choose from six different control schemes, none of which gave me what I wanted. I DON'T GET IT. Wouldn't it be less work just to allow remapping at will?

okay, so when you first put the disc in your playstation, you go to "start" and it gives you a menu of games in chronological order. perhaps, though, you find this list too big and would just like the list to contain the five games you play constantly (those would be elevator action returns, darius gaiden, majestic 12, cameltry and the fairyland story).
so you go into the options screen, and put those games into a custom list. then when you go to "start" a menu comes up with just those five games on it, and if you want to play the others you use the L and R buttons to go back to the chronological list.
and that's it.
also, there's no tate mode on anything. |
