Had a nice rain shower and the sun came back out so I went and mowed the lawn. Saw no less than a dozen leopard frogs; this one made a pretty good model.

Hey IC /p/ - I've wanted a second lens since I got my 5D a few months ago, and now it turns out I may be a REAL PAID PHOTOGRAPHER for an indoor event in October, so I can now justify the purchase.
F1.8/50mm seems to be suspiciously inexpensive pretty much across the board, but that's sort of nice. What do you recommend for my Minolta? Also, I've heard eBay is pretty snazzy for used lenses, so I'd probably poke around on there.
The event is a company (not mine!) party, and will include candid shots to be projected onto a big screen during the thing and potentially pictures of people with an alligator. |

You, sir, are an awesome sparkler-artist. I tried doing the same thing -- telling people to draw something while I took a long-exposure photo -- but in all but one case they turned out terribly because everyone kept drawing all the details in the exact same spot. |

You weren't the only person to call it J-beer. I wish i could believe every one was being "ironic"
Also Newcastle Brown was refered to as just "Newcastle" but now im just being facetious.
End of rant. |

Me squelching into a microphone and leaning on a keyboard I had no intention of playing.
Looking dramatic while playing hideous skronk.
Looking as close to a standard rock band as we'll ever get.
Two drummers: the new way to get ultra-fucking scene cred.

So I was in Brussels this weekend. Chocolate, beer and waffels! Good times!
We saw this video game store one night which a most excellent set of shutters. However, what the hell is the suggestively looking pink thing on the far right! The current consensus is Worms but I don't know...

JPG Mag accepts submissions from anybody and then uses a voting system to determine which photos get published, and which photographers get a hundred bucks. Every issue has a few themes, and you can submit one photo per theme. These are mine for this issue. If you don't mind, and don't find them bad, please give each picture a thumbs up!

| Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D. The one above was taken with the kit 18-70mm lens! Of the three votespam ones, the outside two were taken with the same lens and the middle one was taken with a Minolta 50mm f1.7! I paid for a 70-200mm f4 like a month ago but the guy was in the hospital for two weeks and I'm not sure what his excuse is right now. I still don't have it ;_; |

Resampled 50% and cropped for body shot; no post-processing on color or lighting. Just turned it on and took a picture. |

Trying out Adobe's new Lightroom beta.
It has all sorts of fantastic photo modding features, and I pretty much adore it up to the point where it cripples my system with memory use, and then fucks me over by not having a Save for Web feature like Photoshop.
You don't get to see a live preview of the JPG compression. You get a Quality slider from 1 to 100, no file size estimation, no preview of compression. Nothing. I can't really recommend Lightroom until they work that shit out. It's just unacceptable to do that. |

| It doesn't output standard/compatible RAW companion files, either, which is retarded because Adobe Camera RAW very much does. I think I meant to test it out way back when, but it required SP2 or something (which I won't have until the next format/reinstall!). Adobe Bridge and Camera RAW + Photoshop do me just fine! |

So they make an application for digital photographers and then cripple its output abilities. Great move!
Yeah, this kinda blows. I've modded a bunch of neat photos that I'd like to send to flickr now, but they're kinda trapped in the application. Actually... I suppose I can just save them at a low compression level, just let them be fucking gigantic filesizes, and have flickr do the web-friendly resizing for me. |
