Did you know pirates still exist today? And unlike lame ass ninjas, they've kept up with the times. I was just reading this article.
When 35 pirates carrying machine guns and rocket launchers boarded a tanker laden with methane in the Malacca Strait in March, it sent a shudder through the crew, and a ripple of fear from Tokyo to Washington.
What's cooler than a pirate with a rocket launcher? Absolutely nothing, that's what.
So discuss your favorite pirates here. Or tell your first hand experiences with pirates. Or talk about how you wish you were a pirate because pirates are totally sweet. |

Is this an upfront challenge to those who prefer ninjas?
Because! It'll happen. |

pirates killed some famous american yachtsman a few years ago as he was doing a world tour. and yeah, they're pretty vicious, nasty thugs. big deal in indonesia/se asia, they can get around from one country's waters to another's fairly easily, using complicated geopolitical situations to avoid getting arrested by one gov't.
just like old pirates! |

| The best scene in the Life Aquatic was the one where Steve Zissou kicked the shit out of those pirates. The rest of the movie was pretty lame. |

One of my friends had her father abandon her family at an early age to run off and be a pirate/gun smuggler.
The CEO of a company that I used to work for had a shady past that involved being a pirate in his youth, using Zodiacs to raid luxury yachts in the Caribbean. |

Hell, if pirates are this common in real life imagine how many damn ninjas must be swarming Japan right now!

| I hope the pirates weren't using AKs. AKs seem so piratey though. Hopefully they had something cooler. I mean, if you're springing for a rocket launcher, hopefully they will spring for something with a little more pizzazz. Shit, you are a pirate after all. |

| did the game originate from people drinking tea? if so, sadly, I do not. but I am drinking some tea right now, so, if it does, spill the beans! (insert all kinds of wacky emoticons here to show my genuine excitment over a tea drinking game that will leave my mouth raw from being burned by hot water) |

I can't wait for the day when dentists become the new pirates or ninjas.
I seriously can't wait, so I think I'll try to make it happen. Might take a few years, but... |

Sure, pirates still exist.
They just have Sid Meier's name tacked onto them.
Sid Meier's Redbeard. Sid Meier's Francis Drake.
You know. |

| I've heard reports of "butt pirates" existing in areas of citys that have nicely painted houses, Audi TT's in the driveways and well manicured topiary.. |

Iwould assume that their guns and rocket launchers actually fire cutlasses and cannon balls.
There's a Bob Dylan lyric I used to mishear, from Hard Rain, I think...
And guns that shot swords in the hands of young children
If they can manufacture a canon that shot Ninjas, or maybe Cowboys on Horses, I would develop a fear of sailing. |

| There's a Latin American country that has Freeway Pirates. The name of the country escapes me, but supposedly they drive around in vans on highways and freeways boarding tourist buses and such and robbing the passengers. Oh and did I mention they do all this while in transit? |

| My friend's father used to work on one of those salvage boats, and one time they had pirates board their ship, so he threw a beer bottle at a pirates head. And they didn't shoot him. He's fairly lucky I suppose. |

The guest is Waffen, or more correctly ~Waffen~, I think.
In pirate related news, I was burgled yesterday. In Waffen related news I was stoned when it happened and had to talk to all the cops and detectives in that state.
Nothing got taken, they just busted in the back door, and tried to bust open the cash registers downstairs. The cash registers that had the fucking keys in them, idiots.

Lego Pirates died the day the cannons stopped firing.
As for pirates in general, I went to a Costume Party / Wedding dressed as a Software Pirate. I had a spindle of CD-R's for a hand, a 3.5" floppy (that was really the floppy I got a pirate copy of Wolf3d 1.1 registered), a HD platter for a Big Pirate Earring, Harlock logo shirt, skull bandanna, and said stuff like "Yarr, I's be searchin for warez!" "Ye claim ye leet, but I say ye be nothing but a script kiddy YARR!" and such. |
