college kids, I'm looking at you. I'm going to be doing my last semester of college in the fall, and after that will be attempting to gain entry to either a game-related graduate program, or directly into the game industry itself.

but right now I have nothing other than a mediocre GPA to show for myself. so that's where you, fellow insertcredit denizens come in.

surely there are others here in a similar situation. I'm looking for a handful of dedicated coders and artists who can work to make a simple game or demo, that's both manageable for us, and ideally impressive to others.

ideally, this would be something we could enter in a student game competition or something, though that's way down the line.

EDIT: OH BY THE WAY, my skills include C/C++/Java, currently learning Flash, and I've had a lot of experience writing bots and AI, but very little on actual game loop code.

I know C++/OpenGL and a smattering of Python and Pygame. Decent amount of game-coding experience.

I'm wanting to work on something in 3d this summer, so I can at least work on getting some more finished work into my portfolio.

What about doing something in UT2004? There's already a working game engine, and a very indepth scripting system that allows you to basically re-write the game. I think it can be picked up for probably <$20.

i can draw (not too talented) and sprite. i can program c/c++, but i dont know any apis very well because i havent had a need to program anything of value. also i'm currently teaching myself how to do modern 3D modeling.
