According to the Australian Nintendo site it's a nine game compilation disc which has fantastic games such as Shooting, Laser Hockey, Billiards, Table Tennis and more. You will be able to buy it with a controller in a bundle when the console launches over here so it will probably be the same with you Yanks.

What's Wii Play?

It's a collection of Wii Sports-like minigames, except that some of those games are not very sporty. Includes Wii Duck Hunt, among other things.

It's also a launch title in both Europe and Japan. Comes with a free Wiimote, too.

Japanese page.

Edit: pff, beaten.

Edit-2: I also just found out that Japan won't be getting the Wii Sports pack-in. It's probably because they want to make (more) money off that 25k yen sweet spot. Or maybe Japan just doesn't like pack-in games.

Those games look really fun, I think it would be worth the $10 extra they are charging to have it with a wiimote pack. I quite like the look of Lazer Hockey and that tank game looks to be like Combat.

And there's a cow racing game.

Yeah. I think I want this game more than anything else announced so far.

I like how whenever you buy a controller (this, "classic" pad) you get something to do with it. Nintendo really likes the pack-in thing now! This is a positive step!

Not really news, but: some guy and gal play a series of specially-designed joke games at their wedding. Great stuff, almost unbelievable.

There's no indication of a pack-in bonus batch of wii points on the classic controller's packaging, or anywhere on its website.

January for Hotel Dusk? Nooo. Or maybe it's a good thing, I might get to play Trace Memory before that one, and also Gyakuten Saiban 2, probably.

Toll, that's so awesome. If anyone did something like that for my wedding, it'd be so wow.

Well!!! That's what they've been saying, anyway! Someone even mentioned it in one of those Iwata interviews that went up recently.

I don't think it was only for Japan?

Maybe it's a special bundle that's not yet available? Still: kind of weird not to do it from the start, if they're going to do it.

So does anyone know why there seems to be a possible VC Controller shortage for the Wii? My co-workers went to the midnight GameStop Wii launch to get their paid in full Wiis, but the store got zero VC Controllers, even though they pre-ordered them and paid for them. Has anyone else heard about this?

I've managed to add one to my Amazon shopping basket; then it went back to being unlisted.

I dunno! The amazon thing is strange tonight; I guess I'll just wander around tomorrow and see if anyone has any in stock. Not going to put a lot of effort in, mind. In a week they should be easy to track down.

Im sure they will be.

Also, from what I understand that basically Nintendo is the only one to have had them to be able to test with them. Probably the main reason why you can't use the controller for anything but VC games. I have to imagine SNK would have made it usable for Metal Slug had they had them to test with. I know where I work we could not get them.

Wait--what? If you can't play Metal Slug with the VC controller...what are you supposed to play it with? Track down one of those Horri pads that wasn't even released in America? That is a terrible, terrible oversight.

I have heard nothing that has said you can use the VC Controller for ANYTHING other than VC games. Plus, if they can't test with the controller its not going to be an option. I bet you they wanted to do put it in, but I also bet they wanted to make launch/holiday. And waiting for VC Controllers could easily make it so the game would miss the mark.

Actually, the Hori pads were released here as the "Gameboy Player controller." So I'll be enjoying my slug on one of those. But you're right, this is actually a pretty large tradgedy. I was hoping the Wii would become the place for classic game collections, so maybe fucking Konami could put Gradius Collection on a system I want to own.

What? No it wasn't. Unless "here" isn't America, because that controller was definitely not available in the US. Importing was the only way to get it.

Thank you! I knew I had heard that song earlier this year since I finally got around to finishing case 4. Now it makes sense, my mind is at ease.

Download.

Start at around 24:00 to get the context. Brandon is namedropped shortly afterwards. The one saying "he's a nice guy" after that is EGM's Shane Bettenhausen.

Luke has mentioned him once before, too, I think, but it was only something along the lines of "I talked about this the other day with Brandon Sheffield blabla".

I'm pretty sure Metal Slug was confirmed to support it. The whole idea is for it to have third-party application for ports.

Someone else mentioned this at the 1up show boards, thinking that he might have a beef with Brandon or something. Luke replied:

“Oh, God.
Not at all. There is no issue between Brandon and I. I love that guy.

Down periscope!”

They were the official Intendo ones.

I know they sell them at Nintendo World as well, in the second floor accessories nook.

Perhaps a NYICer would be kind enough to get one for you.

Woo!

This is pretty promising, but there's really not much here so far. The capture beam is fun to use, but there's only like two and a half enemy types.

What Titanion (or as I renamed it, gGalaga) needs:
-Bullet patterns. Right now, the enemies shot spam out shit directly at you constantly until you get it. Not too interesting!
-Variation: More enemy types, more interesting things happening. Right now, one stage is about like any other.
-Bosses: Yeah.

February is the new December. Seriously, it's like a bunch of companies went HOLY SHIT WE CAN'T RELEASE THIS IN FUCKING DECEMBER WHEN ALL THE OTHER GAMES COME OUT and they all happened to move it to February.

April will be next next year's February, I'm predicting.
