Why hasn't there been a "monocle" accessory in a castlevania game yet?
That's actually a very good question.

My big fear is that everyone who's been going nuts for the game, i.e. the message board hardcore masses, already got the game via import for the super premium pack with stylus, comic book, and soundtrack, and cutting away potential US sales. |

A new RPG is coming to DS - Spaghetti Western flavored!
You know, in the Wild ARMS "hmmm" sense. The currency is Pesos!
No developer info, but it looks very much like a (relatively) amateur American or European production, so it should be interesting to see if it can keep it's head above water.
Let's do a little research....
http://diygames.com/index.php?p=729&c=1
http://www.blossomsoft.com/
http://www.westernlords.com/main.php?lang=en&page=news
Western Lords, previously planned on the Game Boy Advance, is now going to be developed on the Nintendo DS. Our game will take you on a captivating quest set in an Aztec/Incan/Mayan environment mixed with Far-west elements. Overflowed with action, exploration, highly additive battle system using projectiles, stunning animated characters, striking "manga" illustration, mesmerizing music and a deep intricate plot, our RPG will awake an immense ecstatic feeling inside you for sure!
I called it! Whoa....producer and writer in Canada, composer in France, 2D animator in Belgium, art designer in California, 2D graphics designer in Australia...I'm surprised they even got this far! But it looks like they just might make it, unlike some of the sad stories of the GBA era...
Music sounds nice so far, but I'd like to hear some battle themes...and see some proof of concept when it comes to the battle system... |

some info on Phoenix Wright, ordered directly from Capcom:
I got the email at 12:07pm EST, today
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Capcom U.S.A., Inc. If you order now, you should still receive the free stylus. Supplies are going fast so we are not making guarantees but it’s still a great chance! We are also offering a large quantity of Phoenix Wright t-shirts with our orders. We appreciate your continued support of Capcom products!
Thank you,

This reminds me:
The best game ever would be an Excel Saga game directed by Kojima.
Either that, or the worst game.
Maybe both. |

Are there enough games in this sub-genre to warrant a new name? Spaghetti doesn't really cut it. Rice western?
[ahem ahem]It's all very intellectual, of course, because western movies were heavily influenced by samurai films. Or was it the other way around? Anyway, I make a highly noteworthy point. I am sure you are all of the mental caliber to follow. [cough cough, wait for applause] |

Not exactly a news, but I don't really know where to ask that.
I read on GA-F that MGS3 sold 3.5 Million copies.
Knowing the game finished at 800.000 copies in Japan and finished last Christmas around 800.000 copies in the US, for a total of 1.600.000 copies. Therefore I'd be (positively) surprised if the game sold around 2.000.000 copies in Europe (I expected half).
Could anyone confirm the sale figures of MGS3 worldwide (or at least in Europe) ? |

Of course, I can't do that anymore, since I was banned for fake fucking spoilers.

So, Hiouden has been fully translated. It's an SNES SRPG by Wolf Team, aka the guys who Motoi Sakuraba hung with, and who partly went on to create Tales of Phantasia. In fact, Sakuraba composed for this game, alongside Shinji Tamura (who has composed for most of the Tales series alongside Sakuraba) and Hiroya Hatsushiba (who?). Pretty nice tunage, although not very memorable. Haven't tried the game yet, though.
Hey, Wolf Team made Neugier/The Journey Home. Huh. |

| Characters that just don't fit in design-wise always make games better. I applaud Team Ninja for this conscious and intelligent tactic for it shall truly make DoA 4 the best game on the XBox360 until Halo 3 which features a DoA girls squad all in a Russ Meyer fashion. |

In my opinion, the material over at Mega 64 has been kinda hit or miss. Take that as you may because there's a new Mega 64 video out about Paperboy that is absolutely hilarious. Go watch it. I don't want to spoil it for you.

Okay, upon closer inspection, its not Master Chief but another soldier, a female one (Spartan-458). So they've just combined both aspects.
Pure genius. |

Looking at the list of companies signed on to give games, it actually looks like a good counter to Nintendos dowloadable games thing.
Full list of publisher support:
* Atari
* Bizarre Creations
* Capcom
* Codemasters
* CTXM
* Digital Eclipse
* Electronic Arts
* Empire Interactive
* Gaia Studios
* GameHouse Studios
* Garage Games
* Gastronaut Studios
* Hamster
* Harmonix
* HipSoft
* Hudson Soft
* iWin
* Konami
* Llamasoft
* Load, Inc
* Mad Doc Software
* Majesco
* Microsoft Game Studios
* Midway Home Entertainment
* Mumbo Jumbo (United Developers)
* Naked Sky Entertainment
* Namco
* Oberon Media
* Pick Up And Play
* pixelStorm, Inc
* PlayFirst
* PomPom Games
* Popcap Games
* Q Entertainment
* RealNetworks, Inc
* Reflexive Entertainment
* Secret Lair Studios
* SEGA
* Silver Creek Entertainment
* SNK Playmore
* Stainless Games
* Streamline Studios
* Tik Games
* Ubisoft
* uWink
* Vivendi Universal Games
* Wahoo Studios
* Wanako Games
* Wild Tangent
SNKP, SEGA, Llamasoft... Plenty of stuff that shouldn't be prettied up ports of 10 year old shareware games.
How much are they charging for this? |

Yes, although the list of confirmed games is a lot less impressive.
Nintendo's download service will still be pretty different, particularly because there will be more available than just casual games and ancient shoot-em-ups/puzzle games (not there is anything wrong with either, of course). You won't see anything like Earthbound on Xbox Live Arcade.
More interesting is the potential for Xbox Live Arcade to become a viable platform for indie developers. |

| That's probably the point. I'm no expert at economics, but I think Nintendo thinks that at this point price-fixing is not going to move the maximum amount of gamecube units, and that it would do a little better left to the markets. |
