According to Wikipedia, Spike handled both of the Tenkaichi games.
Maybe DBZ isn't their forté? I mean they're more wrasslin' I guess. |

Yes! Spike. I knew it was someone small and semi-respectable, like that.
We should make a list of S&S-R Japanese developers: Spike, Dimps, Yuke's, Genki...
Somehow a DBZ wrestling game makes even more sense than a versus fighter. |

Give me a few days. I'm getting a review copy from Atari. I thought Street Fighter DBZ was rather good though, if a little light on content. You need to play against a real person though, because aside from Vegetta, the AI is a chump. I liked how much emphasis it placed on positioning, and moving in all six directions to dodge and blindside your opponent. |

Probably. Sierra's website only has screenshots from KQ5-7, and if they'd bothered to make new art I'm sure they would advertise it.
EDIT: So, according to gamefaqs, this is how the KQ collection stacks up:
1990 EGA remake version of KQ1 (no original version)
Voice version of KQ5
Floppy disc version of KQ6 (has voice, but no high res portrait or cursor art)
Everything else only had one release. |

EBGames just put up the Wii section of their website -- alongside it, a fantastic preorder page for Super Swing Golf. My froth for this game is hitting the ground hard, guys. December simply isn't soon enough.
The 1UP Yours podcast featured the show's resident PS3 fan playing it in Tokyo and having a fucking blast -- then the Official Playstation Magazine crew stepped up with him and resumed having a fucking blast. It has been my contention, from day one of hearing about this game, that I will pick it up and have a fucking blast.
Here are some videos shamefully ripped from Gametrailers, for your viewing pleasure. |

God Hand.
If you want a laugh, read IGNs review of the game. They try as hard as they can to say they hate it, but keep praising things in the game. And give it a 3 in the end. Throwing the game rankings score down, because the other 5 reviews are all 80/100, and then IGNs is 30/100. |

Yeah, someone showed me the IGN review last night. I said:
Looks like this reviewer simply doesn't care for a tough, repetitive oldschool brawler. Probably never played games like Double Dragon II, Streets of Rage, River City Ransom, etc. The Gamespot dude appears to understand that that's the sort of template this is based on, so he takes the repetition for granted: "This isn't a game for people who've come to expect action games to try to do a lot of different things; rather, it's for those who can appreciate when a game does one good thing really well."
And again, aside from the fighting and the custom combo system, the irreverent humor counts for a lot (which is apparently lost on the IGN guy).
I guess I'd trust the Gamespot review more, anyway, though I don't exactly consider either of them to be authoritative resources when it comes to this kind of thing.
The game looks way too hilarious to pass it up. I'm giving it a shot. |

I'm waiting for Viva Piñata... FINALLY a Rare title that doesn't appear to suck donkey balls. I miss Rare's N64 Hey Day. :(
As for Bully, well, I've got a review from a friend who has it. I'll copypasta his post here for those interested. (BTW, I'll probably get the game tonight so I could try it out tomorrow and post about it somewhere). Also, this guy works for one of Jack Thompson's go-to men. He knows JT personally. It's kind of funny.
"Yesterday, after all of the ranting and raving on all sides, I decided to give Bully a shot. Figure out for myself what the hell everyone's screaming about. So I'll be playing the game in full and jotting down just what is going on.
My first impressions of the game is that it finally looks like Rockstar finally made a game with decent graphics. The game boasts over 100 NPCs and they're exceptional. The only problem is that these NPCs are repeated throughout the campus and you'll see them a lot in the same room.
Second was the camera angles. Basically, you'll be running through the whole game. There's no point in walking as you have unlimited stamina. The only problem is that as you're pressing down on L3 to run, the camera will pan around based on this (though only the R3 button is supposed to) and make it hard to run around corners, especially when running away from things (like bullies).
The game's controls are exceptional and are what you expect from a Rockstar title. Very simple, easy to pick up. Only problem was what I mentioned with the camera angles and running.
Now for the actual game. You start off as Jimmy Hopkins, who has been exspelled from numerous other schools, being dropped off at Bullworth Academy so his mother and new, much much older step-father can go off and honeymoon. You walk into the school and are immediately confronted by a gang of bullies. You'll see them a lot as they're lots of them who all look exactly like these three in every room. I just ran away and went off like that. Cutscene to the principle, yadayadayada. Now for the actual meat of the game.
You'll be introduced to your dormmates, a wiseass who thinks he can run the school and his personal whipping-boy nerd. He'll lead you on various mischevious activities, like sniping the football practice with your slingshot. The mission in how you acquire your slingshot is a bit more mischevious and will no doubt send Jack Thompson and your local Fire Department up in arms.
In the second or third mission I believe, you're confronted by a bully. The way they lead you into the mission basically has you go and do the mission regardless. (Actually has you skip class for it.) So far from what I've played, this is as bad as it has gottten. The bully confronts you then runs away. You're then to chase him about outside the school building. You're led into a gauntlet of bullies, 4 or 5 I believe, all of whom you must beat up in order to get to the boss bully. Once you defeat them, one drops a couple of firecrackers. You'll pick these up as you need them for the next part against the boss. The boss is on a platform, I'd say about 10 feet high. He starts shooting you with his slingshot and there is no way to get up to him. This is where the firecrackers come in. You lock-on to him and throw the firecrackers at him. They hit him in the chest and he falls down. (Note: the firecrackers in the game are shaped like dynamite sticks) You hit him three times with the firecrackers and he falls down off the platform, dropping his, now your, slingshot. I should also note that if you hold the firecracker too long (about 7 seconds) it goes off in your hand. No limbs or blood spurted, just an explosion.
Another game aspect are the classes. They're essentially mini-games like word scramble, press the button as its in the box, wrestling, dodgeball, and an old pc game I forget the name of. They're pretty short and are used to give you bonuses in the game and new abilities (punch, kick combinations, etc). You can go through them easily, hardest I'd say is word scramble. This will give you the ability to dissuade bullies (not major ones though) and get out of trouble from the prefects (essentially school cops).
As for getting in trouble, there isn't any real discouragement from it. It took me three times of hitting prefects and female teachers before I was sent to detention. Here came the described mowing scene. I finished it in under 30 seconds and was back to causing mischief. I hit another prefect to see what would happen, and nothing did. I was just outside the principal's office with no punishment.
So far, I've completed 9% of the game. I'll post more as I go on through the game. These are just my observations so far.
EDIT: One other tidbit, the game is VERY addicting and hard to put down. It's a damn entertaining game and a good play for once." - PrJCtZrO

NA releases:
So Yoshi's Island 2 is set to be released on the 13th of November, apparently. I guess I haven't been paying very close attention, but I hadn't realized it was coming up so soon! I really wonder if this will be as great as Yoshi's Island was. I'd like it to be the more elaborate and expansive adventure that NSMB was not, but I also worry a little that it won't capture the magic of the SNES game. I also think throwing eggs to the upper screen could be problematic. Has anyone spent some time with this?
Final Fantasy III comes out on the day after that. I'm unsure about this. I will probably buy it, and it will be the first DS game that I pay a retail price of $40 to play. Maybe.
Final Fantasy V Advance is out today/tomorrow, too. I kind of want this, but probably not right away.
I don't really care about Elite Beat Agents, but that's out as well. Same goes for Guitar Hero II, Gears of War, Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses, etc.
EEE is out on the PSP! Whenever I buy a PSP that will most likely be the first game I buy.
Also released today: Sega Genesis Collection for PS2. Hmmm.
And some other things. Actually, here:

For serious!? FFIII is carrying a MSRP of 40 fucking US dollars? That there is highway robbery! I only paid $35 for fucking FFXII, I'll be damned if I pay more than $30 for a new release handheld title.

Yeah, come to think of it I should look for one of those Circuit City deals where you can get it for like $26 shipped. Otherwise I'll just wait a bit.
FFV Advance is $35, too. It should be $20. |

Anyways, $35 for FFV? Screw that. I was going to buy that, but I have just shifted my purchase to ... hell I don't know. Who'm I kidding, I'm broke. |

With some DS games, its bascially a SNES/GBA game except, hey there's a second screen! Which seems to be the case for YI 2/DS, and I think that's a good thing. |

I know I'm nearly a month late on this, but Atari decided I wasn't worthy of a preview copy and instead just sent me the boxed copy of the game. Only played it a little so far, but it's taken the basis of the first game and added... finesse for a lack of a better word. Stolen some things from the Budokai series is more of a phrase, but true. The hand to hand options are relatively weak and there's not a huge number of attack strings, but there's a lot of movement in 3d space, where you can position, dodge, teleport, and mix things up. Right now I'd think of it as a light fighting game that's fun for casual play with a decent level of depth. |

Yeah, that's the main cause of my skepticism. They're working on Blue Dragon, too, though, aren't they? This seems like it might balance things out a little. Not that I'd have any way of actually knowing, aside from Tim's frothing.
I think I'm going to resist buying any more games until I can pick up a Wii in early-mid December. |

Yeah, I picked it up. It's considerably harder so far in the sense that everybody seems to deal way more damage by default to everyone else, and because the unit power balance doesn't feel so heavily skewed in your favor most of the time. Excellen doesn't have 100% dodge against most of the enemies in the first half of the game, for example, and enemies in agile units (even something like fighter planes) are significantly harder to hit even when piloted by grunts.
Additionally, the script is pretty damn good, much like it was in the first game. It does a good job of skirting the line between seriousness and 4th-wall breaking goofiness. The only typo I've noticed was a missing space in one of Irm's lines when using Darkness Slash. I haven't noticed any of the accidental double uses of words at the end of sentences, which were really common in the first game (i.e. "The DC forces have broken through the the 3rd line!" or something like that). And the battle animations are really, really nice looking.
Polarium Advance also came out on Monday. It seems pretty good! And Yggdra Union, Tuesday?
Geez. |

That's just a placeholder date. It was listed as 11/14 last week, when it came, it got pushed back to 11/21. Wouldn't be surprised if come tuesday it gets pushed back to 11/28. |
