2001: I discovered NeoRAGE. I then discovered KOF, and I loved it. I then discovered Kaillera and kicked peoples' asses all over the world. I then got KOF Dream Match 99 on my DC. Found Fatal Fury Special for SNES at Funco.
2002-2004: Got Mark of the Wolves, KOF Evolution, and the KOF imports on the DC. Also got a NGPC and Max Impact. And that shitty KOF EX for GBA.
That's right, I was an emulation SNK fan. I loved everything back in 2001, but when I got KOF 2001 for DC, I then changed to disappointment. KOF 2002 was met with apathy, and KOF Max Impact felt like a betrayal.
Now I don't care for Samurai Shodown, KOF, the new Twinkle Star Sprites game, or even my old ROMs and ports. I have pure apathy for the new next-gen ports of KOF2000-2003 and the Metal Slug ports. SNK sucks now. |

Holy shit, this is in the wrong part of the forum, isn't it? See? SNK and KOF are so dead to me I don't even acknowledge them as games anymore.
Actually, I'm just a moron. |

| That's why you shouldn't have downloaded all those ROMs. If you plunked coins into an arcade to play them, you wouldn't get sick of the games nearly as quick. |

A: About the only post-1991 Neo Geo game I've ever seen in an arcade was Metal Slug 1. Plunking quarters into an arcade machine wasn't an option.
B: It's not that I'm sick of the games because I played them too much, but I'm sick of the games in general because the newer games are soulless. |

What do you expect, these companies keep turning out these games every year with only minor tweaks and additions. It's like Hyper Super Street Fighter II Turbo Tournament addition, only they're trying to be a little more sneaky with the name.
The developer has a choice, add a little bit and keep most of the hardcore fans appeased (because really, what do they have but grouchy hardcore fans who absolutely despise change) or they can be innovative every year and have a fluctuating fanbase.
A large part of it is the ability to find someone good to play, I believe, if you can do that, the most thoughtless games can become pretty fun, I've spent hours at an arcade because some dopey friend wanted to play me Bust-A-Move, and it was great.
SNK has a dirty habit of releasing games too often, with very little (now I'm repeating myself) change, but I believe it's because it's more a honing of the sword, instead of a total redesign...Then again, the newest King of Fighters are a little sloppy, so maybe they're struggling to find where they really are. I mean hey, they're in those transitional years, they're going to try some new things, add some different systems, I don't know, even meet a girl, the possibilities are there, it's in that growing stage right now.
There are many other fighting games in the sea, though. |

No it's not. It makes perfect sense.

You're missing the point. More or less. You almost got it with this:
Dark Age Iron Savior wrote:

It has Rock Howard in it. It exists outside of King of Fighters continuity, outside of Dream match... well, okay, continuity doesn't really fit there, and it is not King of Fighters.
It's not called The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact on the Official site either. It's just KOF. |

That reminds me, whatever happened to that MMORPG that started out with King of Fighters models for every character but SNK withdrew from the deal and they had to change the title and names? Let's check Google!
Your search - "king of fingers" mmorpg - did not match any documents.
oh well, can't win them all. oh wait, here we go:

Hrmm. I suppose it will go the way of Ghouls'n'Ghosts'n'Goblins'n'Gremlins Online. |

Listen to the retarded man at the title screen. He knows what he's talking about.
Yeah, Brandon had a beta login for that online game, before it evaporated. Don't think he ever bothered to check it out. LOSER! |
