Not what your ideal arcade would be, but arcades you've actually dreamed about.

I've been to a lot of dream arcades. Often, it looks just like the arcade I went to as a kid, that's long been closed and demolished. It would look old and run down, but with strange modern games in it.

There's also another dream arcade I've visited a number of times over the years. The walls are blue, and it's narrowly packed with rows and rows of games. It's filled with loads of old school games that have never existed.. I even had a dream recently where I though I had finally found this dream arcade in real life.

There's also been arcades filled with just one game, like Donkey Kong. There was a casino arcade recently that was filled with medal and pachislo machines, but also regular games that you could win money from.

My favorite one, though, was an ancient looking, wood paneled arcade I found downtown. It was just labeled "ARCADE" in broken neon letters. The first floor was very narrow, and had only a few discrete component games on the first floor. On the second floor, after going up a set of narrow steps, were pool tables and fuse ball. It all had a really surreal, creepy feel to it that I liked.

So, anyone else?

I just want an arcade filled with every Sega coin-op ever. Deluxe versions of course. Even Virtua Racing.

Just add a arcade TMNT and Simpsons game and it'll be golden.

I had that dream once.

I also had a dream that I went to an arcade that looked like Arcade Infinity...or maybe it was Arcade Infinity, except it had a working beatmania 5key machine.

F90 have you ever seen the fucking REZ arcade machine?

Really, my school's got a pretty nice arcade downstairs. Pool tables, board game tables, ping pong, and in a closed-off, unlit room, there's a GGX2 machine, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, a MAME unit, some permutation of DDR, and a Strikers 1945. Pretty fucking nice if you ask me. I need to check it out more often.

Although I do wonder where the Sega's at. Really, if they had a full Space Harrier setup and a 4-slot Neo cab, I'd probably never leave.

May have been a prototype. I can't read French, so I don't really know. Either way, fucking hot!

I've heard about it, but haven't seen any actual pics of it. Though the unit is made by Namco, which is odd. Is it from another arcade game originally?

I often dream about derelict boardwalk arcades.
The machines and marquees faded by saltwater and sun-bleaching.
The screens are opaque and cloudy though you can still see the flicker of attract-screens underneath.
Years ago I dreamt I was playing a Jim Henson's Muppet Babies arcade game where you rode a tricycle. Like Paperboy but 3rd person behind the back. Eventually I was sucked into the game, and I ditched the 'Babies, taking off on my giant pixellated big wheel.

I also have dreams about two polish sausages standing in an inflatable pool full of baby oil. Locked in struggle, alternately hugging and wrestling with each other.

Think that means anything guys?

Either this is the first I've ever heard of it or the article is lying. That cab was made for an unfinished Starblade sequel and didn't make it out until Namco put out that Gundam game whose name I can't remember.

I once dreamt I was in a train station that had 1 lonely arcade machine. It was a shooter running on hardware that was literally a dozen or so Game Boy Colors "spliced" together. It had a ridiculous amount of low colour sprites with the sort of crazy music you'd expect to come out of so many systems. I was told it was the product of a guerilla game development company that was producing arcade games low in cost but high in awesome.

I sort of wish stuff like that was feasible in real life.

I've had lots of dreams about arcade games. I wish I could remember more details about some of the more interesting ones (rarely do they closely resemble things I've actually played), but I remember enough about one or two of them to try re-creating them one day. They don't ultimately make sense as traditional video games, but that doesn't matter much--I wish more real games didn't.

Too bad the VCU arcade was twice as big 2 years ago. They also had a tournament style guilty gear (x orxx or something), another shmup, puzzloop, virtua fighter 4, street fighter ex(sucks) some other rythm game, and a couple of pinballs, and maybe one or two others. I wish the videogame club(s) could have stopped the downsizing.

Just before moving to Nevada, I dreamt of an entire Las Vegas casino that had all of the gambling machines replaced with arcade games. The casino motif (lighting, architecture, carpeting, bling) remained! Saw a widescreen 60" high def D.o.A. game (this dream was before 360 versions came out, so it was cutting edge at the time), and out of nowhere I met with one of the developers (I can't recall if it was Itagaki, though) and he showed me dev systems for the game, explaining how the extremely intricate hair rendering engine worked.

Yes, in my dream I was more interested in 'hair rendering' in a D.o.A. game than anything else.

But yeah. Casino turned into arcade. Top that.
