|
After several days of not washing my hair, it starts to look really nice. It gets sort of "piece-y," gathers texture. After another day or so, it just looks dirty, though, and it's probably not that great to just leave it un-cleaned until I want it to look the way it looks. When I wash it, it gets smooth and mostly boring.
So, the question is: is there any way I can maintain that one style without leaving it dirty? Like, a product or something? Or a technique? Anything! |

Volumizing shampoo sometimes helps. That's usually all that I need to maintain the necessary turgidity for a good pompadour. You may want to try some conditioners though? |

The primary thing you're getting from not washing your hair is a thick coating of natural oil. This can be a nice thing...
Putting some pomade in your hair can provide similar effects for some people.
So can "leave-in" creams.
Moisturizing shampoos and whatnot.
Also, you can keep your hair much cleaner, much longer if you use good conditioner when not washing your hair and scrub the scalp well to keep it clean, which won't remove the natural oils -- that's what shampoo does. |

I usually use this after I wash my hair with shampoo:
But I use it like a normal conditioner. I comb it through my hair with my fingers, wait a couple of minutes, then rinse it out.
Am I not doing this correctly?
Also, I don't want it to look oily. That's when things have gone too far. |

| Go the the 99 cent store and find a really greasy stylin' gel. Buy it. Take a little dab, and I mean little, like, way less than how much you'd use from the toothpaste tube for reference. Do a light smearing on your hands, and then run your hands through your hair a bunch. It works like awesome. |

| I bought this $10+ tiny plastic container of sylying wax (not gel) from this hair salon in Harajuku and man. I don't use it enough, though when I do, I always remember where the money went. |

| Also, get your hair the way you want it to look by not cleaning it for a few days or whatever and go to a hair salon that sells a bunch of products. Tell them what you did to get it look like this and ask them for a product that does a similar result but does not disway good hygiene. Then go to walmart and buy that same product. Or buy it there if you feel nice! |

Guys,
I use TiGi manipulator conditioner, because it has that nice stringy effect after washing! |
