| So how badly did nintendo screw up this launch? I ask this because I haven't really been paying attention to the launch as Geometry Wars takes up alot of time and sense that Nintendo made a few fuck ups, such as with the VC launch list and an incomplete browser. Remember to rate in xbox live points. |

you know, it's an ok launch. there isn't a killer app and there are a few bugs but sports is a great packin, the Miis are cool as hell, and I generally feel pretty content with the system.
That said, the VC launch list was filled with games I already had or didn't care about (mostly former), the inactive weather and news channels were disappointing, etc. The Wii is my tertiary platform at the moment, but I don't feel disappointed nor do I have any regrets (and I'm pretty frugal.... I held off on the ps2 until it went slim and leeched off my friends to play kojima and ueda games). |

Only a little bit. VC pickins are slim, prices too high (though i doubt that will change), and I'm surprised Nintendo didn't include points with the system to give people a free first taste of the VC stuff. News and weather don't work; this pissed me off because the first thing I did was try to check the weather. The system update took half an hour, and then there wasn't anything there in the first place. Come on guys!
I love this damn thing though. |

This has been the least fucked-up launch since the Dreamcast, probably. There are a few games worth playing on some level; the systems are kind of readily available (if not in San Francisco), and reasonably priced. No big hardware problems.
The closest things to problems so far are that there's not a lot up on the VC yet (though there's already been an update), that VC games are a ltitle more expensive than anyone wants (though that can always be changed later), that some online things aren't live yet (though they will be next month), and that you need to download a bunch of things the first time you go online.
That's about it, really.
Oh, and the issue that nobody's figured out how to properly use the system yet.
EDIT: And yeah, they need to get the points out. |

i think most people were expecting the wii launch to be a pretty calm, low-key event? doesn't sound like anything went terribly wrong, though.
NOT LIKE THE PRETTY-MUCH-DISASTROUS PS3 LAUNCH AMIRITE GUYS. |

| FUCK the ps3 launch made me kind of upset. I absolutely refuse to buy a microsoft console, particularly after ballmer's recent attack on linux, and I'll probably end up with a ps3 eventually for ueda and kojipro, but I'd like an expensive console to end up with more good games than the gamecube had. |
